Hi Carol, Thanks for your great review. It seems after 10 years in business that now a surprising number of jobs and clients I receive are repeat business, which is both satisfying and also challenging. I'm glad we got a nice group and it was fun to have an extra tourist who you kindly allowed to join us. If it was better than last time I'm sure it was the weather as well, as we got a really lovely weather day that day. It was great to visit Maharangi River Winery and at the end be able to pull into the Puhoi Pub. It's truly a piece of local and national history something that made a perfect end to a really enjoyable day. Thanks again for taking the time to write your great review. Best regards John McFarlane

This review is long overdue, but necessary. I only had a short time in New Zealand in August of 2012 and wanted to make the most of it; this was no exception. A friend and I booked the tour with John that included wine and honey tasting, as well as seeing a black sands beach. Being no "wine pro" myself, I found it fantastic that John was able to add his knowledge into conversation making the tour relaxed and very educational. He was able to answer questions, not only about what we were tasting, but the venues and the local area as well. The food, wine and atmosphere the entire time was fantastic. John was even able to adapt the schedule to our interests, adding more time for certain vineyards and even traveling with us all the way down to the waves at the beach. I would, without a doubt, recommend this tour!
Thank you John!

I've been on other wine tours here. Johns was easily the best. All the wines were good and a few we're outstanding. He gave interesting information about the industry. He was also good company and has some unique ways of describing wines

This excursion combines beautiful scenery, fine wine tasting, and a delicious meal.
We had a wonderful tour with John and his new associate Jessica. John is extremely knowledgable about the local wines, wineries, and their histories. He provides an entertaining tour of the city and the island as well. He is very knowledgable about wines in the rest of the world and uses this to enhance his commentary on the local wines.
He is known at all the places we went and was warmly welcomed.
We booked on triathlon day which caused all sorts of road and ferry disruptions which John handled smoothly.
This has been our best experience in Auckland.

Hi Harry and Mimi,

Thanks for your excellent review. It was such a pleasure to spend the day with you both. I'm glad you were able to enjoy some Waiheke Island wines. I take out quite a lot of people that have their own small vineyards and put their hand to making wine as a hobby. It makes me envious.. one day.. So I see that the lay of the land and the varieties grown is of no small fascination to these clients. Waiheke is a quirk of nature and a peculiar macro climate given it's location in Auckland and as you could see once we are there, it's also a bunch of micro climates too with small vineyards all over the place. It turned out to be a glorious blue sky and the colours were lovely. Thanks for buying the red to go with lunch Harry, it worked perfectly with my steak. Those guys in the kitchen really do a good job!. Fine food and wine are a blessing. I hope you enjoy your cruise around New Zealand and have a wonderful holiday. Stay in touch. All the best - John McFarlane

John's tour of Auckland's vineyards was the best thing we did in Auckland! John owns and operates NZWinePro tours so he has a vested interest and passion for making sure every guest on his tour is completely satisfied with their Auckland vineyard experience. We sure were! His knowledge of wine production and varieties is amazing, as is his knowledge of everything flora, fauna, economical and geographical! We toured 4 amazing vineyards where John was welcomed by the family owners and entrusted to take us behind the scenes for a private tour of the barrel rooms and wine making operations! We enjoyed a fantastic lunch accompanied by wine we'd just tasted, we tried locally made honey at the BeesOnline Honey Factory Cafe. We then took a short scenic drive to see the nesting Gannet colony and their young and the Muriwai black sand beaches! On the way home John suggested an ice cream stop for the kids and ALSO a tour up to Mount Eden for photos and tour of the crater. This was above and beyond our expectations and you cant get this type of attention or experience with a big tour group and 140 other guests. I for one didn't want to feel like I was being herded on and off a bus all day. Help John reclaim Trip Advisors No. 1 spot for Auckland activities by posting your comments! He deserves it! Brilliant tour John and your new vehicle was really comfortable! Justin & Stacey

Hi Justin, What an outstanding review, thanks very much. When anyone tells me it was the best thing they did or the highlight of their stay it makes me feel so rewarded. I live what I do and I grew into it from working every step of the way to where I am now. I'm interested in world economics and politics and different cultures. I love Wine & Food and I love Travel so I get on famously with my clients because I enjoy my day too and I learn a lot from taking out people like yourself, it's such a pleasure. I hope one day I can get back to Number 1. I just try each time to make it the best I can, you can't do more than that. Thanks again Justin for your review and your genuine support. That kind of feedback makes me feel proud of my work, and that the little things I do don't go un-noticed. Best regards - John McFarlane
