Facing Eastern Beach, this venue has a really lovely aspect - particularly if you sit by the window.

This Restaurant has recently been taken over by a couple who used to have another Restaurant, of the same name, not far away.

It is Licensed but is also BYO on wine. The owners are delightful, the food is excellent, and the service is great.

A girlfriend and I visited this restaurant for lunch it's on a lovely spot down Eastern Beach. The menu had $12.00 lunch special and then a normal menu. The $12.00 specials have about 5 dishes to choose from which are great value. My friend had a pasta dish off that menu and enjoyed it Unfortunatly nothing appealed to me so I went for the normal menu. While it was nice I had a open chicken sandwich the menu is quite expensive at $21.50. So I would suggest if you are looking for a nice cheap meal go for the special menu. We took our own bottle of wine so didn't look at the drink prices. A lovely spot with a good range of food.

What a delightful meal. We had a party of 4 dine on a Friday night, the restaurant was not too busy but fairly full. We shared a starter of chicken liver parfait and the duck envelopes, both were extremely flavoursome and fresh. Superb. The mains of eye fillet steak (2) chicken breast and pork belly were well enjoyed. The presentation was lovely and the portion sizes very good value for money, my sauce on my steak was too die for. Great service too will be back!!!!

Arrived at Barracuda hoping for a lovely atmospheric experience but we were in for a disappointment. The restaurant seems to not know wether its a cafe or a bar or what. The tables were really sticky and the chairs made it feel like we were eating in a school staffroom. The owner didnt come near us which was surprising seeing that i mentioned when booking that we lived round the corner and were trying it out for the first time. The duck envelopes as entree were barely warm, ive had better won tons from the howick takeaway…..the squid coating was wet and falling apart, way over priced for $20 and $14.50 each. The lamb shank was fatty accompanied by rock hard veg,my knife wouldnt cut through and i kid you not.The t- bone was 5 mils thin and as a result could not be cooked correctly. The lighting was too garish and the whole place just lacked atmoshere and warmth,we will not be back,we will not recommend this place, how unfortunate ,as being locals we could have come back and brought more business. The owner looked bored rigid behind the bar and was practicing juggling.Chips were killed with salt, soft drinks were half filled with ice,the owner welcomed some of the diners who he must have remembered from the days at the old Barracuda on bucklands Beach but never came near us…are we not important?it is worth noting that this restaraunt has moved from bucklands beach to eastern beach.

This was our second visit to Masala ex Barracuda. Meal was very good first time . Second time not as good our entree of the onion dish not hot and cooked through in fact the whole meal was not as I had recommended to the friends we took as we raved how good it was to them .Staff did not really know the menu so went to get help tp explain it to us I think we then got the owners wife who was very good. However we were sitting in the outside area where only plastic curtain blinds even though heaters on the walls the table sitting under the heaters were too close and asked for them tone turned off as they were too hot so not a comprise .this would be the perfect setting on a warm summer night however not put off we would go again in the summer .Resturant has been very-well fitted out and very nice decor And staff very smartly dressed prices very good and BYO.
