good location, clean comfortable room. Bed was quite small but both my husband and I are petite so it was no problem! but taller, bigger people might find it uncomfortable. Very good value considering it was smart room with nice touches like good quality toiletries and ironing board and umbrella (which I used!) in the wardrobe. Despite being in town it wasn't noisy at all. Would stay here again if in Auckland for a couple of days.

The Express Bus to/from Auckland's International Airport stops by this hotel, in a quieter CBD street opposite the Q and Civic theatres. The large rooms are suite-style with a kitchenette, a lounge area with sofas and a large desk, and a double bedroom opening off, with an exceptional comfortable soft double bed with the bonus of really good reading lights. Spacious if basic shower-room. The tiny wardrobe and lack of a chest of drawers was one of only two shortcomings; the other was being charged $10 NZD a day for Internet access, with the threat of a download limit. I do think business hotels have to include wi-fi as a fundamental inclusive in the room charge. And the extra 1.5% charge for paying by credit card is one of those extras which can feel like a rip-off.
There is an in-house cafe-restaurant, which supplies the room service (which was speedy and good), but I ate across the road in the Q CafeBar which provided great breakfast from 8am.
Overall high quality and great value for money right in the heart of the CBD, with plenty of room in the room!

Room Tip: AS a City-centre hotel, higher floors are quieter, and there are not extensive views.

I travel frequently to Auckland, so it is important to find the right hotel. Auckland has many hotels to choose and I have stayed at most including 5 star establishments. Scenic Hotel is my favourite place of stay. The location is excellent, windows that open, awesome beds, fantastic service, and you have to mention value for money. Thanks Scenic Auckland. David

Room Tip: I always request room 609, bath, faces Queen Street, great views, large TV :)

We stayed two nights at this hotel after flying into Auckland International - there's an express bus that runs directly from the airport to the harbor, and this hotel is right across from the Auckland Town Hall stop. They were very accommodating and let us check in at 8 in the morning! Our room was quite large, had its own kitchenette (we didn't use it but we were very impressed with it nonetheless) and overlooked Queen Street. Due to the historic nature of the building, you can hear any street performers outside and some traffic noise, but there were very thick, floor-to-ceiling blackout curtains that helped insulate the room. The internet was fairly easy to set up and a decent price, they had several available packages you could purchase depending on your needs. The bathroom was very nice, as well. The folks at the front desk were very helpful and gave us good advice on where to look for prepaid phones and a car rental! The location was wonderful, about a 15 minute walk to the local passenger train station and harbor ferry.

I can't imagine a nicer hotel for such a reasonable rate in central Auckland. For only NZ$109 a night, we got accommodation that was spacious and clean, a perfect location, peace and quiet, and excellent service. Having a separate bedroom was great. Most surprising of all was the kitchenette, which even had a full oven, two-burner hob, and a dishwasher! I've never seen that even in much more expensive hotels. Even though we were right above Queen Street, we never heard any street noise in the bedroom. The location is ideal because it's central to everything but far enough away from all the noisy pubs and nightclubs that are closer to the waterfront. There's even an airport bus stop right in front of the hotel, for extra convenience. Also, the ground-floor restaurant was superb, another surprise! Do yourself a favour and eat there, we had a delicious meal with very generous portions at extremely reasonable prices. Everyone working the front desk was helpful and polite. The bathroom was large, with a high pressure shower. Everything was nearly spotless. My ONLY criticism is that there was nowhere to unpack our clothes into - only a teeny weeny closet, and no chest of drawers or shelves, so we had to pretty much leave our clothes in our suitcases. If they were to fix that omission, the place would be perfect.

Stayed one night as I needed to be in Auckland for work. The room was fantastic! Clean, reasonable size, kitchenette (surprising for a hotel) and you could close the bed area off with doors for a more quiet sleep! All staff members were polite, efficient and friendly! Highly recommend for anyone wanting to stay in the CBD

Great place in the centre of the city. Has parking available for a very reasonable price which is EXCELLENT in this city. Simple room, we did have a bit of noise off the street and the buildings (like air con sounds). It's a convenient place, I would recommend to others who need an easy place to stay - not ideal for a romantic time away... Would happily stay there again and recommend to others. Very reasonable price.
