“Scenic Hotel Shoppers Special”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

The staff were excellent, very accommodating and friendly from the valet parking staff (one who warmed up the car for us when he retrieved it on a chilly evening) to the front desk staff.
The room was surprisingly spacious for a "studio", the bed comfortable and it was clean and well stocked.
We were on the side that overlooked an alley not Queen St. I thought this would be a plus in terms of night noise however it was not to be.
The ONLY down side (and hopefully they will be able to get this issue addressed shortly) is that there was a nightclub below us and a large group of the people spent a great deal of time outside in the alley way shrieking etc…consequently my sleep was very poor. Finally slept at 2am then awoken at 4am with more shrieking. We informed the desk in the morning and they were certainly aware of the problem.

Room Tip: Perhaps try the Queen St side. I had stayed a little further up the road at The Quest which is also...

When every thing from check in to having your car delivered to the front door when you leave is attended to by friendly efficient staff that run a very clean and tidy hotel. The hotel is walking distance from eateries, theatres, casino and shops, and is definitely to be recommended

Perfectly placed in the center of Queen St, Scenic hotel offers all that is needed when travelling: rooms are clean, with good furnitures, the little kitchen is very helpful, and the employees are very gentle.

After arriving in Auckland this was our first stay at a Scenic Hotel where we were met by friendly reception staff. The hotel is in a brilliant location in the heart of Auckland and everything can be reached on foot; a definite plus in such a busy city. However, the accommodation is very tired, a bit grubby and in need of redecoration. Our bedroom appeared as a large cupboard with folding doors out onto the kitchen/dining area. There was hardly room one side to get in and out of bed and the bed was somewhat uncomfortable. The kitchen/dining area though mostly clean was very outdated and didn't appeal. The bathroom conveyed a similar feel, though there was plenty of hot water and fluffy towels. On the day we arrived we found the hotel restaurant food average/OK, but chose to eat out afterwards. We were a bit apprehensive about another Scenic Hotel stopover later in our holiday at Paihia, but we needn't have worried as this hotel was first class. Suggest Scenic Auckland needs complete refurbishment - would not recommend, which is a shame as its location is ideal.

Thank you for taking the time to comment and I am sorry you were disappointed in some aspects of your stay. Being an older heritage building that is triangular in shape does lead to some quirky room layouts, generally that's useful but I understand your comments and we do appreciate the feedback.
ind regards Ken

This hotel on the queens street is walking from the sky tower. The rooms here are like apartments with a open kitchen in the hall and rooms also very good. The hotel has valet parking and even the pay parks are closer by. the buzzing night life can be done from this place since the hotel is located in the heart of the city....The best hotel on my honey moon trip....

We loved this hotel.Easy walk into the centre and very good facilities.Interesting buiding with a superb lift !
The manager was excellent as were all the staff. He though was totally on the ball and did everything he could to make the stay enjoyable. We ate in and both breakfast and dinner were good.
Rooms were clean and roomy. It was a pleasure to wind down here after a long flight.
Auckland we were less keen on.Take the boat to Devenport.Charming area with excellent dining and shops.Naval museum also worth a visit for those interested in WW1 and 2.Small but fascinating.
During our time in NZ we stayed in 3 chain hotels.Scenic, Rydges ,and Millennium.
Scenic was the best.Less corporate and more relaxing and friendly

This hotel is a great discovery. It is bright and airy. They made good use of the office building features when they turned this into a hotel. The staff are wonderful. The appliances and beds are first class. Be prepared for very noisy kids at night, but the noise does drift off as the night goes on. This hotel is in the heart of things, across from city hall, and we will return.
