“Will be back!”
Reviewed 17 February 2013 via mobile

Stayed here for 3 nights was a fantastic stay! Great staff, great location. Had a twin room one of the nights on the southern wall and it was the worst mattress I have ever had! Will never want a twin room here again. Other than that a great hotel!

Here's a reminder to anyone staying in a hotel who would like a good night's sleep: check the radio/alarm!! We didn't and got woken at 3.15am. The previous occupier clearly wanted an early wake up, but we didn't. I am not expecting the cleaners to check the radio/alarm but if they did our stay might have been a more enjoyable one. That aside, we were satisfied with The Rendezvous. The deluxe room on the 10th floor, overlooking the Datacom office building, was in very good order and clean. We liked the bathroom, which was more luxurious than your average bathroom, the beds were comfortable, air conditioning worked perfectly and the TV was big enough for the room. The 3 hour complimentary broadband worked without a hitch. The Atrium of this hotel is the most impressive feature of this hotel in our view, with the bar on the first floor overlooking the large area in front of reception. We had a look at the swimming pool but it didn't entice us enough to don our togs, The gym looked well equipped. We ordered room service and the food was well presented and tasty. Shame the Chicken Caesar Salad came with no chicken but that came a little later with an apology. Our full breakfast in the morning was an excellent spread of foods, delicious in fact. On the whole, we found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Would be very happy to stay at The Rendezvous again.

Stayed here on conference and had a great time. Food was excellent quality - especially the green lip mussels on the room service menu. I ate out and couldn't beat them! Clean rooms and a short stroll to the centre of town

I stayed here mid February 2013 for a company conference. I found property to be quite a good venue. Large numbers of us arrived on a Sunday afternoon late and the staff had us checked in in no time at all. I stayed on 9th floor with views to Queen Street intersection with Mayoral Rd. the room was modern and bed quite comfortable (King size), large bathroom etc. I stayed for 5 nights/6days. Only thing I probably didn't like was the air cond in my room took a bit to get temp right and occasionally felt little too warm at night (early hours) even though I hadn't changed the setting. The one thing I did find with the property was that if your room was facing the atrium ( this is quite specular architectural feature of the property) then any noisy activities in the bar on Level One, the sound traveled up and was amplified by the atrium. Hence I could in my room on 9th floor quite clearly hear loud laughter or other noise, mainly only occurred late at night. A couple of my colleagues who had rooms that had windows facing onto the side of the hotel opposite the main Auckland CBD Police Station mentioned that their sleep was occasionally disturbed late at night with sound of police sirens, so suggestion if booking here ask for a room away from Police Station side of building.
I found service by the staff was excellent and nothing seemed to be a problem when you asked., only time I found service to be wanting was only once in the six days which was on the Sunday night of arrival a small group of us ate in Straits Cafe and although there was two wait staff on and only nine people at two tables in total in the Cafe, it took several requests to get our drinks delivered and orders sorted.

Breakfast choice was very good and food and service excellent, this was in Straits Cafe. I didn't eat in the Japanese Restaurant in Level One but colleagues mentioned they enjoyed a meal there.
At all other times I thought food served was quite good for our conference package.

Location wise the property is at the edge of the CBD only a five to ten minute very easy walk to Queen Street shopping district. If it is the Viaduct and the harbour you want it is an easy 15 to 20 minute stroll down either Albert or Queen Street. Distance is about 1.3 or 1.5 kilometres. If your visiting Auckland for entertainment it is simple stroll across the road almost to reach Aotea Square with Civic Theatre & Event Cinema. Auckland's iconic Sky Tower is approximate ten minute easy walk. In the streets near the hotel Hobson, Albert & Queen are lots of cafes, restaurants, bars, and of course the Viaduct Basin & Wynyard Quarter on the harbour have a myriad of eateries and nightlife venues to choose from.

The Wi Fi service offered in property was very good and free so easy Internet connect and if using Viber or Skype to call it was strong even in my room.

Overall a pretty good venue for a conference or if staying in Auckland on business, or if you are looking for a less expense upmarket hotel to stay in for tourist visit to Auckland, or using Auckalnd as an overnight transit stop thenI feel you wouldn't be disappointed here either.

Room Tip: Book a room away from the side of hotel that is opposite the Police Station

We pre-booked a two-night stay ages ago, and after a hellish flight i'm glad we did. We took the shuttlebus from Auckland Airport and our driver said this hotel was fantastic - and boy was he right. Friendly and efficient staff, a huge stylish room with comfortable king-size bed, separate shower room and bath, and all within a short walk of the CBD (the hotel is five mins from the SkyTower). The price i thought was excellent given the location and standard of room. Didn't use the bar or restaurant areas but they looked very smart. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Well I booked this marvelous hotel ages ago, and when I arrived, it was beyond my expectations.
The staff are so friendly and helpful, and the amenities abound! Lovely lounge and bar area.
Nice pool, workout room was adequate, and the outdoor patio a total bonus !
Then seeing the room, I was stunned! So lovely, fully appointed...the washroom was like a spa!
Very friendly staff. Easy walking distance to the shops in the area, quick walk down to the harbour for events and trips there.
All round perfection.

Room Tip: I honestly don't think it matters!

This hotel is just outside the CBD and very close to the skycity and harbour. Its a nice and pleasant walk over to the harbour, which I totally loved. The checkin process was smooth, though we landed at the hotel at 3am in the morning. The hotel staff was very helpful. The rooms were neatly laid out, crisp and elegant with a good view. The breakfast was good and very detailed so we had no issues with the food, though vegetarian.

Room Tip: Select a room on the higher floors, ideally inward facing to avoid the noise
