As we had a group of people all meeting up in Auckland for a weekend we chose the Rendezvous as it was a central location and had a reasonably priced suite for us to sit and chat in pre/post dinner without having to pay bar prices all night - was also a lot quieter and therefore better for conversation.

The suite was HUGE (nearly as large as our house) and we found it a novelty to have a guest toilet off the enterance. The main bathroom was huge with large double wardrobes - bit of a pity we were only there for a night. The bed was the bigest bed I have ever slept in - seemed much larger than just a King bed.

My husband was very impressed with the coffee machine (once he had figured out how to use it!)

The staff were very helpful, even after several calls and a visit down to concierge by various members of our group as we tried to decide where to go for dinner.

Our only 2 small gripes with the room was that the bath had a drain in it to stop it overflowing, however this was too low down and you weren't able to fill it up high enough and the other was that it seemed very odd for a hotel of that standard (particularly considering it was a suite - not just a standard room) didn't supply guest robes. But these two small things didn't put me off and I would definately go back in future.

My girlfriend and I recently had taken a short holiday up to Auckalnd for 3 nights last month. When we got there, we thought the Hotel was fantastic. Very well layed out and the staff were very friendly.

However, the lift sounds that warn you a lift has arrived need to be fixed, basically on all floors as these are terrible!

We stayed on the 7th floor and had an ok view of the city. The area that this hotel is in, lokos a little bit run down compared to some other parts of Auckland. The room is quite large and the bathroom quite fantastic! Room looks a bit outdated though and needs major updating!

TV was poor and the lamps on the wall were starting to fall off its hinges! There was broken shelf in the fridge and a broken table. Uncomfortable couch aswell.

The swimming pool was quite good, however its not very heated for what they say it is!

They asy the have a rooftop japanese garden, however we could not find this, nor was there anyways to get there?

Didnt go to any of the restaurants as they are well over priced! Its best to buy your own breakfast (cereal etc) and go out for lunch and dinner as its much cheaper and it gets you out and about.

The air conditioning in the rooms are extremely poor as well! This needs major work too!

For price it is quite good but as I say before, they hotel could do with quite alot updating as most of the hotel is outdated.

I WARN you of this! The hotel will take a $100 off your credit per night for any incidentals and for room charge. when we checked out they said they would transfer the funds back into my credit card straight away, however this did not happen. I emailed them and they same, after guests check out of our hotel, we will refund the money after 5 business working days! They do not warn you off this and they never give an explanation to why they do this, so it is quite shocking. If you leave the hotel and plan to use your credit card within the 5 days, watch out because you may not have the money on your card because they still have it!

Overall it is quite an okay hotel but could do with alot of updating. I would most liekly not stay there again due to the credit card scenerio and due to the hotel being so outdated and also for not been giving a reason or been warned about the credit card incident.

Our room was really spacious, clean and comfortable, with an awesome bathroom and great views towards the city. The pool and gym, and sauna were also in the best condition. The only fallbacks were internet charges (but you get that everywhere in NZ), expensive parking and expensive breakfast. The location is easy to find right off the highway, and the airport is about a 30min drive away. It's probably in walking distance to most of downtown but we drove everywhere.

This was our first accomodation in NZ and I cannot fault it. We had a club room on 10th floor, which we were checked into 1 hour after landing at Auckland airport, which was ideal after travelling from Europe. We had originally booked for 3 nights, but I changed this to 2 nights when we arrived. This was no problem at all, so up we went to our very big room and showered and hit Auckland for late lunch. The location is handy, about 15 min walk to the harbour. There are few other hotels which are right in the city centre, but it's not a very busy city so 15 min stroll was fine. The location is also very quiet and about 25 min walk to the Hertz rental offices (5 minutes drive back to hotel). The room was clean, bathroom huge and we could not hear anyone in the neighbouring rooms or in the corridor. The club room gave us access to the top floor club lounge, which was busy so to get a seat, be there early. The spread of finger food was brilliant, as was the view and the (unlimited) drinks/champagne given! And finally, the breakfast was one of the best I've ever had in any hotel and definitely the best one we encountered in NZ! We found everyone in the hotel was very helpful with all our enquiries. I would definitely go back!

Great hotel if you are looking for space and amenities at a reasonable price. Rooms and bathrooms are huge and every little detail has been thought of. Fridge in mini-bar is an excellent size so you can go out and buy some fab NZ wines and chill them back at your room. I did fine it strange however that they have Lindemans (an Aussie wine) as their wine in mini-bar, surely they should be promoting all the fanastic wines that NZ has to offe?. Room service was quick and very efficient, my order was delivered within 20 mins. Staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The only negatives are:

Room service breakfast - quality of bread was pretty bad, cheapest wholemeal with slices as thin a paper. Could improve on this esp when paying $6.00 for 3 slices.

Atrium Bar - this was advertised as being open all over the hotel but it had a police-like cordon around it. Not sure why it was closed?

Aucklander Bar - ran out of 42 below Manuka Honey Vodka :-(
Very strange bar.. ..huge inside but totally lacking any character. If they brought in some interior designers they could turn this bar into a cool trendy venue for city slickers. Shape is quite unsual but they make nothing of it which is a shame.

TV - flat screens would be nice. Most hotels have these nowadays.

I would receommend this hotel and will stay here again. However, if you are looking for uber- trendy contemperary design then this is not the place for you. But it's big and comfortable and great value for money,

I stayed in a deluxe room 1043 which has a lovely view of downtown Auckland and a night you can see all the city lights from your lovely large king-size bed

After a 24 hour flight to NZ all that we wanted to do was go to the hotel and sleep for as long as possible. The first impression was that the hotel was a little scruffy when we approached from the public car park but this was dispelled by the cleanliness and open spaces of the atrium. The staff were very polite and informative and nothing was too much trouble.
Our first room was on the plaza floor and was well worth paying the extra 20 dollars for as it included free drinks and free breakfast in the plaza club, even though it was a limited breakfast. The room itself was very clean fresh towels and sheets, with everthing you would need on a short stay. The Plaza room also gave us free parking.
When we checked out we reserved a Plaza room for our return to Auckland prior to flying back to the UK and they gave us a free full breakfast for doing this.
When we return to NZ we will definitely stay here again.

we stayed at the Rendezvous hotel in Auckland for 2 nights. I have to say, we expected much more from the hotel after looking at the website and reading the reviews...
We booked a club room, which was supposed to be nice...but unfortunately it was really small and old. The bathroom was ok, better then the room for sure. The club room included breakfast and drinks in the club lounge. The afternoon drinks were pretty ok, but the breakfast a disaster. There were just some pastries and yoghurt...not even cheese, nothing. It was meant to be a continental breakfast, i'm wondering which continent it was to suppose to come from. The staff was nice but the hotel was definitely not worth the money, i would give it maximum 3 stars and next time in Auckland i will stay elsewhere.
