“Nice hotel, good location in Auckland”
Reviewed 26 August 2012

I stayed at the Citylife in July for a business trip.

I was on the 16th Floor and had a room with a view out across the street. I checked in late so didn't really spend much time. The bathroom with clean, there were Tea & Coffee making facilities etc. Bed was comfy (nice & firm). Room was slightly small, but plenty big enough for a few days stay for a couple.

There was a gym & swimming pool downstairs. The gym had the usual equipment you'd expect.

Didn't eat breakfast, so can't comment there. The reception team were polite.

Stayed in a deluxe suite for two nights.
The suite is nice and big, staff are really friendly - tip top on service. However some of the smaller things made the experience just average and not outstanding for starters the bed made a squeaky sound every time I moved at night, the bed is also a bit small only being a double, I was told by a very cheerful housekeeping lady that they're just in the process of exchanging all the beds in the hotel.

The other downside was the state of the suite, there were burn marks on the kitchen bench and we got two TV's a nice flatscreen tv in the lounge, but only a small tube tv in the bedroom. Also i failed to find the Ipod docking station they advertise on the website.

All in all not too bad, I've stayed here before and I must say I found the first suite (same room type) a lot nicer.

I will probably stay here again as its literally right on Queen Street and close to everything, I was facing Queen Street from my room (not the most magical of sights) and was afraid of the noise, but pleasantly surprised when there wasn't any noise.

All in all I would give the hotel 3-4 Stars, facilities and staff are tip top, room should be updated a little and it would be perfect like the first time.

This was the first time we had actually stayed in Auckland and the hotel experience was very good. We were warmly welcomed for our 3-night stay, a quick check-in and our luggage brought to our de-luxe suite. Very clean and comfortable - more amenities than we required: there was washing machine and drier, fridge/freezer and cooking facilities in the separate lounge.. TV in both lounge and the bedroom. The only criticism I would have is that the bathroom was rather small and the shower a tight fit. But the towels were clean and plentiful. The bed had a soft topper mattress which we found comfortable and room service was prompt. The restaurant wasn't open during our stay but the bar area could supply snacks if required. Bar staff accommodating and helpful. Would certainly choose this hotel again even though the late night revellers can be a bit noisy.

Have stayed here 4 times for business and holiday in the past couple of months... Great location, on Queen street, close to all the tourist attractions.
Every time I stay we have stayed in an apartment/suites with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and lounge and kitchen... the rooms are clean, tidy and well appointed.
The hotel is great for families and groups....
The last time I stayed we had a penthouse apartment...once again well appointed...and amazing view of the sky tower and city... worth ever dollar....and great value for a group...
I have only eaten here once and the meal was very good- we hired staff member to wait on us... The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly...
I would recommend this hotel for weekend away for group "girls weekend"... location is great for business and pleasure...

Have stayed here 10 times now, and a good place in good location. Rooms, generally very good size, particularly the suites and always clean and tidy. My preferred hotel in Auckland for location and amenities. Small gym but usually not busy.

Good hotel, very well located in Queen st only 5min to sky tower or ferry terminal. Hotel lobby is good, tidy, it has a weird entry you have to pass through one lobby to get to the hotel lobby if entering from queen st.

Rooms are clean and tidy, bathrooms are good, we have a superior room but to be fair it's not 'superior' it's a standard hotel room, at least what I would say is standard across most hotels.

The bed is a bit old, it doesn't have any anti roll together system, and is generally not that comfortable. If you have back related pain, I would stay away. At least from a superior room, other rooms may have better beds.

The room has air conditioning and it works well, very quiet which is nice for a change.

Thank you for your feedback and lovely comments regarding our hotel - we do appreciate them. Regarding the beds - I am pleased to advise that we are replacing all our beds - in fact we started installing the new beds on the top floor yesterday and all new beds will be installed by the end of August - so next time you stay with us you will experience a wonderful, amazingly comfortable Sleepyhead Latex Elegance bed with built in plush topper - they are a dream!
We look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

I am very impressed by CityLife`s Hotels in New Zealand.Room was huge with everything you need.It was like staying in a private apartment.
Rooms were cleans and bright and airy.Bed was comfortable with so many pillows.
Location was right in the middle of everything. So we could go back to our hotel anytime and dump our stuff and go out again.
The Concierge and staff was most helpful and obliging. However though we booked a 1 bedroom suite with a King bed we decided we wanted 2 twin beds.We had to upgrade for another $25pernight to get a larger room with 2 beds so we decided that was what we wanted. But when we got to our room the bed was still a king instead of 2 beds which the receptionist told us.
Overall still a very recommended hotel and will always book CityLife Hotels in New Zealand.
