“Convenient city location! Nice room!”
Reviewed 3 March 2014

We had a nice stay at this hotel. Very nice bed! Nice to have coffee and small fridge in room. Bus stop from Auckland airport was right outside the hotel door - very convenient! Was only a few blocks away from the downtown ferry terminal. Pleasant/helpful staff at front desk.

We stayed on the 13th floor in a one bedroom executive suite. So our girls slept in the fold out sofa bed in the lounge and we slept in the bedroom.

A good thing to note is you can pay for some things in advance before you stay, like valet for $25 a night (rather than $35 per night), internet and late check out also you can book ahead of time so you pay less. Internet is ok, you get one device only it would be nicer if any device could get on but this did not seem to be the case.

TV in bedroom is super small, so we put our girls to bed in the bedroom and moved them later as TV just too small, really it is like a bathroom TV in the bedroom. TV in lounge is decent size and has some movie channels, no PPV but there is a DVD player which is really good.

Kitchen is great, full kitchen with everything you need, fridge, oven, microwave, pots and pans and dishes, and washer and dryer which was great for getting all the clothes washed! There are tons of mini supermarket kind of places you can get food at any time of day or night but recommend getting what you need at a supermarket on the way as there is more range and pricing is better.

Service was excellent, valet guys are awesome, everyone is super friendly and helpful, they even gave our girls some little gifts at check in.

Location is perfect, shops and restaurants everywhere, and only a short drive to Mission Bay where we always go on visits for Fish and chips and ice cream, there is a great little pub restaurant right behind the hotel called Blue stone, some of the best fish and chips I have had!

Only downside was the fold put sofa, it was broken, dipped in middle, lucky my girls are 3 and 5 so was not a huge deal, and we were only there 3 days, but when I let reception staff know about it their solution was putting a single rollaway bed which they may have even charged us extra for, I would have to check the bill to confirm, so it did not really solve the issue as one of my daughters still had to sleep on the broken fold out sofa bed.

There was also a pool and gym that we did not use, this is certainly somewhere we would stay again and would recommend to others, it had a nice modern and clean feel and smell to it and was good location, good value for money and top service, thanks to everyone there!

Dear Mark P,

Thank you for your detailed summary of your stay as it is only feedback like yours which gives us an opportunity to improve our service and facilities. You will be pleased to know that we are in the process of purchasing bigger TVs for our bedrooms so hopefully next time you visit, you and your children will be able to enjoy this new feature.

I do apologise for the state of the sofabed and I have instructed our houskeeping team to monitor which room this faulty bed could have been from on that floor and we will replace immediately. I have passed on your comments regarding our valet staff to Jacky Shih, our Chief Concierge to share with his team.

Again thank you for your time and we certainly hope to host you and your family again in the near future.

Kind regards,

David Latu

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and we really enjoyed its central location, which was on the high street and everything was within reach.

We were happy with the services – the concierge organised the airport taxi for us and they allowed late check out until 12pm and internet can be used in public areas.

We were also happy with their rates and would definitely stay here again.

For our last couple of nights in New Zealand we chose the CityLife Auckland. The apartment was spacious with a well-equipped kitchen and lounge area. The queen bed is one of the most comfortable I've slept in and the apartment had a good view over the city. The toilet flush was sticking when we arrived but this was fixed promptly and efficiently. All staff were friendly and helpful and of course the location right on Queen Street was terrific for access to everywhere else. Would definitely choose to stay here again.

We bought a package for this hotel, it included valet parking, late check out and breakfast. We were upgraded to a one bedroom suite, this was nice of them however we would have been fine with a hotel room for one night. They were very busy when we arrived at the hotel because there were two cruise ships in Auckland that day. We had to wait until 3pm for room to be cleaned, they gave us a complimentary drinks voucher and we were quite happy. The room had full kitchen, lounge and one bedroom, it was very suitable for somebody staying in Auckland for several days or even weeks. It was a substantial suit, but it had small signs of wear. The beds were extremely comfortable I even looked for the make as I am looking for a new bed.
The hotel is very well situated near to a supermarket, viaduct basin etc.
We would definitely stay again.

Dear Jeanne86,

Thank you for sharing you recent experience with our readers as it is always a pleasure to hear from Senior Contributors such as yourself. Operating at high occupancies is always hard for hotels to ensure rooms are ready on time but it was pleasing to read that you were happy with the steps taken to ensure you were looked after while waiting for your room.

Your comments on our beds was very pleasing to hear as we always want to ensure our guests have a good nights sleep. If you are interested in purchasing one our of beds please contact me and we can help you with this.

Excellent location in the heart of Auckland. The airport bus stops right outside! Our room on the 19th floor was quiet and comfortable with views of the Skytower. Staff were really friendly and helpful, even taking the trouble to help me get my tablet connected to the free wifi in the lobby. We spent 3 nights here after visiting family in Queenstown and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Very clean and comfortable hotel in the heart of Auckland city. Great location for hitting the shops, bars and restaurants. We were lucky enough to stay on the 21st floor and had peeps of Auckland harbour, the bridge and Rangitoto island, and the king bed was very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely consider staying here again when next in Auckland.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less street noise.
