“Spacious two bedroom apartment in central location”
Reviewed 5 February 2009

I spent a long weekend at Citylife in December 2008 and a Saturday night in January 2009. On both stays I had a two bedroom apartment which was clean, spacious and well equipped, with the exception of a rather ancient tv in the living area. Avoid looking out of the windows unless your idea of scenery is a car park or the rear of a building and the lower floors suffer from noise from the air conditioning units. But then you do not stay in a city centre for the views and being able to step out on to Queen Street is compensation enough. The staff were delightful and dealt promptly and efficiently with tumble dryer which refused to start. Great to be able to catch up on the laundry. Weekend deals are good value. Ideal for two couples on a trip to the city or to catch up on sleep after a long flight.

Great hotel, stayed in one bedroom unit on 18th floor. Room had views of the harbour and had been recently refurbished so looked great and was very comfortable.

Loved lots about this hotel so here's just a few of them
* walk in wardrobe in bedroom - awesome
* plenty of mirrors (obviously I'm a girl)
* separate airconditioning control for the bedroom
* suite was very roomy with windows that opened
* very comfortable beds
* TV in lounge and bedroom
* central to everything, could walk to harbour, city shopping and sky tower
* professional and helpful staff
* room had everything right down to own washing machine and dryer

If you stay at this hotel a must do is to eat and/or drink at the Stone Room Bar just outside the foyer on a small side street. Good vibe during the week and great food. On quieter nights they have a 2 for 1 deal which is good value.

On the flip side we did find this hotel a bit difficult to get to by car and you really don't need one as you are so central. Parking also expensive but this is not unusual for a hotel in the middle of a larger city.

Would definitely recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again.

Arrived in Auckland at 6:00 a.m. Hotel arrival was about 7:30 a.m. Staff was most helpful, got us into a room immediately. We had an upgrade to a suite that was quite nice. Location of the hotel is on a busy street but the noise in our room was minimal. Location is great as you can get bus in front, walk to ferry dock, and also fairly close to Via Aqueduct, an area full of restaurants.

My fiance and I only stayed for one night on the way to Fiji but had a relaxing time. Check in was quick and our room was spacious and clean. The hotel is in a good location in the middle of downtown Auckland and it is easy to find your way around.
We had a meal booked at Orbit restaurant at the top of the Sky Tower which we would recommend, It is rather strange eating your meal whilst you are revolving. The views of Auckland are great. However, the service was only average and you definitately need to book.
Our only complaint was that the hotel bar seemed to shut very early. We wanted a drink at about 11pm after our meal and were told that it was shut - it was a Friday night!
If we were ever to return to Auckland, we would happily stay at Citylife again.

It is not easy to spot this hotel, since the main entrance
is tucked away in a side street off of Queen Street. But
it is a nice option. It is quieter than many of the big hotels around
the convention center, and can have vacancies when the others
have filled up. It is a full-service business hotel,
with restaurant, a fairly well-equipped gym and a
small indoor pool.

My room was a suite, and it appeared that most of the
rooms are like this. There is only one bathroom, which
is off of the bedroom, but otherwise it is
well-suited for a (small) family. The room amenities were
not extravagant, but the most important
things worked; the heating was a bit quirky,
and the two small TVs got only a few stations clearly,
and they both stopped working for a day or two during
my visit. The location is great -- a few blocks from the harbor
and the convention center.

Stayed at this hotel 3 times now as our business location is in Queen Street. The location is perfect for this, but for a holiday as well. Close to everything. Hotel itself is in good condition. Reception is excellent with staff nice and friendly. I had a couple of extra requests and was no trouble. Room service excellent. Rooms themselves have nothing wrong with them and they're on the large side. Although very well maintained they could use a refresh compared with other 4-1/2 or 5 star hotels but are clean and well laid out.
Only thing in my experience that was inconvenient more than anything was that the room key was needed to work the lifts. I'm not complaining here as it's a good security feature but I guess your have to go through this if you want to know not everyone can access your floor.
One final thing, if you go out the driveway and to the right in the laneway there's a great pub.

We (family of 5) spent 2 nights at the CityLife hotel in Auckland and had a very good experience. We had one of the newly refurbished rooms (interconnecting suite) on the 21st floor with views. Beds and sofa bed were great; tv in every room, no noise. Staff were friendly and helpful. We left a phone charger in the room when we left and they couriered it to our next destination. Breakfast was included in the rate and it was superb.
The hotel is located in Queen St, the very centre of the city. Sky Tower/City, Viaduct, shopping, within easy walking distance, even with young children.
We would definitely stay again. The main foyer however is not in Queen St (there is access), but in the sidestreet - it took our taxi driver three trips around the block to find it!
Overall we were very happy with our choice.
