We stayed at CityLife to enjoy a "night on the town" for my birthday. From the moment of arrival until we departed we felt that all the staff really cared about our comfort.
We have travelled extensively in the UK and Italy and felt that the Hotel staff were much superior to any we have met anywhere in Europe and are to be congratulated for their service.
We will certainly return at our earliest opportunity and will recommend this hotel to others.

Spent a weekend with an appartment. Not really as spacious as I expected. Hotel foyer is impressive but there after not so good. Hotel crammed into central area - good for Sky tower and night life, but bring ear plugs for weekend noise. On my floor there was a terrible smell of solvents all weekend - this was more than paint thinners. Wifi was not free - why? Staff were attentive but felt that value for money was poor. Think you can do better.

Dear MiddleEnglandMan,

Thank you for the feedback. The solvent smell you encountered was due to the corridor carpets being replaced with new carpet. Regarding wifi, we do offer free wifi in our lobby and bar area, for the first 30Mb or 30 minutes, whichever comes first and this is per computer per 24 hours. Our apologies for the inconvenience caused to you.

Kind regards,
Nicole Lawson

I have 2 words for the hotel owners - DOUBLE GLAZING!!! We stayed on the 21st floor in an upgraded 1 bedroom suite & thought we wouldn't be able to hear all the noise of late night revellers on Queen St. But we could hear every scream, shout, fight & raucous laugh from 10pm until approx 6am the next morning. Even if it hadn't been noisy we couldn't sleep on the sagging mattress that had collapsed in the middle & my husband ended up trying to sleep on the sofa in the lounge. I made do by propping pillows against my back, but to no avail.
I have read the hotel's responses to previous comments about noise ie. working with the council, blah blah blah. What a load of rubbish! What do they expect the council to do, barricade Queen St after 10pm so no-one can walk past the hotel? If they installed double glazing you would not hear any noise, end of story. But that would involve spending money, so don't hold your breath & book elsewhere instead.

Dear FluffNZ,

Thank you for your feedback, we do appreciate it. Our apologies for the inconvenience caused to you during your stay. We are currently investigating options such as double glazing as well as working with the council and surrounding businesses as has been mentioned previously with the aim of finding a workable solution for all.

My Son (11 yrs) and I stayed here nights in Jan 2011. Everything from the online booking to pre-arranged luggage storage (pre-checkin and post-checkout) ran like clockwork. The room (16th floor deluxe suite) exceeded expectations with views of both the harbour and Skytower. The best equipped kitchen I've seen in a long time. Staff were fantastic and unfailingly helpful and room service (and pillow menu) very efficient. We (mum and son) felt very safe at the hotel and going out at night into the surrounding streets (some great eateries nearby in Vulcan Lane!) and down to the harbour . No problem with noise - in fact I was amazed how quiet the rooms were, considering the downtown location. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Very good location downtown. A lightbulb was replaced right away. “Superior queen” room is fairly small, shower only, 30 minutes free wifi in the lobby (inconvenient that it’s not in rooms), pay extra for wired internet in room. Peephole in door is too high for people 5’4” and under. Desk chair too low for desk work. Terry robe provided, but have to get pool towel at concierge desk rather than on pool deck (inconvenient). Pool is okay in length but much too warm for swimming laps. A sign says to shower first, but there’s no shower at the pool.

Dear LCNtraveller,

Thank you for your feedback, we do appreciate it. I did want to clarify in regards to no shower in the pool that there is a shower and toilet in the gym which adjoins the pool. I hope we can welcome you back to Auckland again soon.

Kind Regards,
Nicole Lawson
