My wife and I stayed here for four nights in a large studio room. We had difficulty getting Internet signal, and here's where things became interesting. The test of a good hotel is not whether adversity arises, but how it's handled when it does. This hotel handled things beautifully.

Because the hotel couldn't get its Internet signal working properly in our unit, the management granted us privileges in their Executive Lounge, which was a marvelous experience. Not only did the Internet work well, but the service and the food and the drinks were excellent. We found the staff was professional, friendly and courteous all the way around.

The room itself was a gem, with plenty of space and a balcony overlooking the spectactular harbor less than a half-mile away. The bathroom was huge, with a separate shower and deep bathtub. Two bathrobes were provided, and the bed was comfortable, even though it was a single-mattress platform. The toiletries were high quality.

We also parked a car at the hotel at $25 a night. The valet service performed in a distracted way, but with perseverance, it worked out, and we managed to get our car even though the service at times was painfully slow.

The hotel has an excellent spa, and it looked like the exercise facilities were good. The pool was attractive, but the Jacuzzi had way too much chlorine for us, and we found ourselves giving up after our eyes were tearing up after less than 10 minutes.

The location is superb, just a couple of blocks off the main shopping drag, Queen Street, and less than 10 minutes walk from the tourist-heavy harbor area.

All in all, a great experience.

Room Tip: Higher floors with harbor views are a plus.

This hotel is very conveniently located within walking distance to town and a short bus ride to Newmarket or beautiful Parnell shopping centres. We stayed here early December and it met all our requirements. Our room was very quiet, comfortable beds, smartly furnished, well serviced and had a lovely view. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and our breakfast was fine. Suggest you stroll down to the neat bars and cafes in the CBD arcades and lanes nearby, or taxi/bus to shops and restaurants in Parnell, to meet the locals! Auckland Art Gallery is wonderful, too, with a very good cafe.

Room Tip: Ask for a harbour view on a high floor

We stayed one night in late February and had a relaxing time on a a club floor.Overall we were happy with the experience and would stay again, however the service and attention to detail needs to improve if they truly want to reach 4 or 5 star status.
Little things like the restocking of food items in the executive lounge for breakfast and in the evening was very slow, meaning a long wait for your preffered choices to the concierge at the valet parking taking 15 minutes to reteive our vehicle from the carpark.
