“Excellent Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 March 2012

I stayed here three nights recently. The hotel amenities are excellent and I was happy with my interactions with the staff.

My only quibble relates to a problem I have with a lot of hotels. The bed was rock hard, which hurts my back. For this reason I would avoid it again unless they could make a pillow top available. Sadly a lot of hotels have been ruled out of my list for this reason.

Room Tip: Ask about the availability of a pillow top if you can't sleep on a hard bed.

overall good, but I don't know why I was charged for breakfast while I actually did not present physically at all. And the lift is always a headache, you don't know when the lift can read your room's slot in card and when it does work. Other than that, I think it was a good experience.

My wife and I stayed here for four nights in a large studio room. We had difficulty getting Internet signal, and here's where things became interesting. The test of a good hotel is not whether adversity arises, but how it's handled when it does. This hotel handled things beautifully.

Because the hotel couldn't get its Internet signal working properly in our unit, the management granted us privileges in their Executive Lounge, which was a marvelous experience. Not only did the Internet work well, but the service and the food and the drinks were excellent. We found the staff was professional, friendly and courteous all the way around.

The room itself was a gem, with plenty of space and a balcony overlooking the spectactular harbor less than a half-mile away. The bathroom was huge, with a separate shower and deep bathtub. Two bathrobes were provided, and the bed was comfortable, even though it was a single-mattress platform. The toiletries were high quality.

We also parked a car at the hotel at $25 a night. The valet service performed in a distracted way, but with perseverance, it worked out, and we managed to get our car even though the service at times was painfully slow.

The hotel has an excellent spa, and it looked like the exercise facilities were good. The pool was attractive, but the Jacuzzi had way too much chlorine for us, and we found ourselves giving up after our eyes were tearing up after less than 10 minutes.

The location is superb, just a couple of blocks off the main shopping drag, Queen Street, and less than 10 minutes walk from the tourist-heavy harbor area.

All in all, a great experience.

Room Tip: Higher floors with harbor views are a plus.
