My wife and I spent only one night in this hotel at the end of our trip around NZ. This is obviously a big, corporate feeling hotel but what pleased us the most (and, indeed, surprised us a little) is the quality of the staff. Exceptional service from the doorman through to the cleaning staff.

During our time, my wife had a treatment in the Spa, we used the pool and enjoyed use of the free internet in the lobby. The valet parking was great and hassle free (they even managed to find somewhere for our over-sized campervan!) and we felt the location was an ideal for seeing a lot of the city.

As a result, this doesn't feel like a business hotel and we enjoyed our stay immensely. If we make it back we'll stay again!

We have stayed here many times for the night when in town for a dinner or function. It is very central Auckland city. We have always had a great night sleep even though its smack in the middle of all the action. The windows are double glazed and when staying on the harbour view side you get a great night sleep with incredible views, and late afternoon sun streaming into your room.

The rooms are very clean, comfortable and have lots of amenities available. Front desk is efficient and on the ground level a fine dining restaurant, classy bar area and a new steak/seafood restuarant that will be open in time for the Rugby World Cup we are told.

Recommended for a great inner city night out. If you find time there is a gym and indoor pool as well.

Dear 'Littlemizfab'

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on SKYCITY Grand Hotel. We are glad to see that you have enjoyed our hospitality on a number of stays and that you enjoy your time here.

Weare in the middle of creating a new Steak & Seafood Restaurant in the Grand Hotel lobby, known as ‘The Grill by Sean Connolly’.

The dining style will be simple and uncomplicated, featuring pasture-fed meat and sustainable seafood from New Zealand's very best producers - a perfect match to what will be one of SKYCITY's leading wine lists. Boasting wooden tables, leather seating and a luxuriously dark, rich and edgy ambience - the space will complement the SKYCITY Grand Hotel entrance and adjacent Lobby Bar. With an emphasis on excellent produce and an efficient and friendly service style, The Grill by Sean Connolly will be the ideal location for a relaxed dining experience and all in time for Rugby World Cup.

We look forward to welcoming you back to SKYCITY Grand hotel then.

Warm regards

We stayed 4 days on our honeymoon at Skycity Grand. While the rooms and the location is nice - the service does not match up to 5 star standards. We returned from a day trip on the second day to find our access cards didnot work & third day our locker had been reset! (the manager who came to fix this said it was a common problem because the battery runs out often ) Room service wasn't very efficient either - we would come back to discover missing bathrobes, unclean portion in the room & toilet etc.

Dear 'Hankuna'

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review on SKYCITY Grand Hotel.

I was most disappointed to learn of the experience you received regarding your door locks and service. I have taken your comments to the relevant teams, as constructive feedback to ensure that this does not happen in the future, and I can assure you, that this is not normal customer service delivery our guests receive and I apologise for this.

I would be happy to discuss further if you wish.

Warm regards

My husband was gifted a baby grand package from his work, and it was 2000x better than expected. We arrived and had our car doors opened by lovely polite gentlemen, and greeted warmly. The reception staff were friendly. The lounge and reception area was beautiful.
Then we stepped into our room... wow... it was GORGEOUS. And the yummy wine and chocolate platter were awesome. The bed was big and comfy. The bathroom was clean and modern... and even had a beautiful bath. The Grand is right next to the casino so we had some fun there, and then headed back to the hotel... as we were passing through the lobby, a man was playing some beautiful piano music, so we snuggled up on a couch and listened to him play... the lobby is so magical... felt like he was playing love songs just for us in our own private magical world ;) I know I sound soppy hehe, but it was truly wonderful.
Oh and lastly, the breakfast was YUMMMMMMMMY :)

We have never in our lives been treated so politely, with so many smiles, we felt like royalty while staying at the Grand. Will definitely definitely be going back!!!

The Hotel is located within a stones throw of the Sky Tower which is perfectly located if you want the central ameneties. Upon arrival we were formally welcomed by reception who efficiently went through our details and asked wether we would like our complimentary bottle of bubbly and chocolate dessert on arriving at our room or later via room service. The Hotel is as its name says certainly 'grand'. Walking towards the elevator you cant help but feel slightly excited to step in to your room. The rooms are very clean and well presented. Room service is fast to respond and they are clearly trained to deliver a high level of service. The compendiums provided in the rooms were excellent, displaying menu's for room service options should you wish to dine in. The guest pool area and gym were incredibly clean and welcoming. We were pleasantly surprised to find the pool empty too, so we did feel that extra bit special! The beds were extremely comfortable and we were provided with a well rested nights sleep, we barley noticed the city noise. Breakfast at the Terrace restaurant was excellent and we were impressed by the variety of foods on offer. The only downside is that you don't have enough room to try a bit of everything! High levels of customer service are obvious, as is the beautifully kept hotel.
