Quest Auckland Serviced Apartments
Reviewed 29 February 2012

I've been staying here regularly for the last ten+ years, and have come to see the Quest as a home from home.

Greg, Kate and the team always go the extra mile to look after their guests, good food, comfortable apartments and really friendly people.

Happily recommend the Quest Auckland as the ideal place to stay in central Auckland

These serviced apartments are situated near the top of Queen St, a few minutes walk from local shops and approximately 20 minutes walk from the harbour with its many restaurants and cafes. It is located just where the road becomes steeper.

The Quest has a small parking area in front of the building which we found useful to facilitate unloading our luggage from the hire car and checking in.

Our one bedroom apartment was on a high floor overlooking Queen St. If traffic noise is a problem to you then ask for a room overlooking Myers Park.

The main room had a kitchenette with dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave. There was also a table and chairs, a sofa, a coffee table and a desk. A patio door opened onto a small balcony - standing room only. The room also has air-conditioning.

The separate bedroom had a king size bed, drawer unit and a wardrobe. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had a shower cubicle with a flexible shower hose. Water pressure and temperature control were excellent. The bathroom also contained a washing machine and separate tumble dryer.

The fixtures and furnishings were in good condition and everything worked.

There is a small cafe area on the ground floor where we had breakfast which was included in our package. This overlooks Myers Park.

The Quest offers WiFi but makes a charge for the service. As this was more costly than the service from my mobile operator, I chose the latter. However there is a WiFi iPad in the lobby next to Reception for guests to use. Other options directly opposite the building, are an Esquires coffee shop which offers a good service for a small purchase or an Internet cafe.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would probably stay there again if in the area.

Had a 3 night stay in Jan 2012 with our 3 young children in a very tired and run down 2 bedroom apartment.

Rooms are clean, very old and run down, extremely dated.

Room stunk, the drains produced the most foul smell I have ever smelt, we were vomiting as a result. After complaining to reception (had to go down as the phone did not work) they provided us a plug in air conditioner machine that took the smell away and left a normal smell, however to have a machine like this then they must know of the problem.

I would never stay again.

The carpet had enough stains on it to have accommodated half of the city in the room previously.

Walls and doors had chips and marks all over them, furniture was from the 80s.
Beds were acceptable however their surroundings left you feeling blah.

I requested a cot for the baby and this was in the room on arrival and all bedding was provided also.

i would never stay again and believe you could get much better value else where, for $285 a night it is a joke.

Parking is included and it is very good parking, close to lift and very easy to access.

Noise - We were on level 18 and I felt like a helicopter was right out my window, I beleive the noise was from the air con machines but it was horrid, all day and night. No street noise could be heard.

I scouted for a downtown Auckland hotel to get over jet lag and have a home base for exploring the city before a convention. This was my first encounter with the Quest brand, and it was excellent.

The accommodations were very comfortable, the staff was friendly and the location was great. It was only about a 10-minute walk to the ferry dock and trips to Devonport and Rangatoto Island. Restaurants, of course, were abundant nearby (I really enjoyed Vivace on Shortland Street).

The rate was very good, and the hotel was simply great for what I needed. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

I was very impressed with the professionalism, the value and the convenience of this property. I was there for 2 nights, and the room was very well appointed, with a washer and dryer, some breakfast items and a very comfy bed and table and chairs. Great welcoming and reception staff, and terrific housekeeping. Will return when in Auckland.

In short it would have been a 3 (which isn't a bad rating) but the combination of the very good price due to a supermarket docket coupon, and the complimentary breakfast pack waiting for us, makes it a winner.

Location is good, balcony with a fairly good view, and of course the sort of stuff you get in an apartment rather than a hotel room. Staff at reception were great.

On the other hand there were a number of little imperfections as well, and the room size is nothing above standard, hence 4 out of 5 all things considered. Would most certainly consider staying again.

I stayed here for 1 night in December 2011. This property is good value and centrally located in Auckland with great access to all local sites. There are also a good variety of restuarants and cafes nearby. The apartment consisted of 2 rooms with sleeping, kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities. We even had a balcony overlooking a park. A complimentary breakfast was provided in the room as was tea and coffee making facilities.
The reception staff went out of their way to be helpful to allow us to have our booked accommodation before the advertised time of 2pm. I have no hestiation in recommending this property.
