This is our third visit over as many years and I'm growing quite fond of it. Apparently it was originally built as a Sheraton and the Langham iteration is a bit of a time capsule of decor and atmosphere but everything works well. It is a curious mix of old fashioned "style" in a brutal 70's building, there are lots of staff and service is prompt and attentive. The rooms are chintzy, but well maintained (the bathrooms are almost vintage and the better for it), the beds super comfortable and we had four fabulous nights. The Winery is a pleasant place to watch the coming and going and have afternoon tea or a light snack. 8 restaurant is a sort of upmarket one price ($85) smorgasbord for lunch and dinner - provided you eat a lot its fair value but there's no option for lighter/quicker dining. Breakfast likewise but better value. Other than this little gripe I would hate to see it change.

Room Tip: Basic rooms on lower floors are just that, basic and gloomy. Go for the upgrade it's worth it. Invariably on Wotif mystery room list..

I have stayed a number of times at the Langham Auckland for business. The staff are always so efficient and wlecoming, using your name wherever possible. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, although there are times when trucks going about their business in City Road behind the Hotel, can be noisy in the early hours of the morning. Their free shuttle bus service to downtown Auckland is recommended. Their restaurant breakfast has everything on offer including a very good selection of gluten free options. I always feel at home whenever I return there.

We purchased the wotif mystery deal and was given the option to up grade to a clubroom for 120.00. Wow it was so worth it! From the time we stepped out of the car and walked into reception we were greeted by name, shown around the complex and settled into our room relaxed and ready for some indulgence.

We arrived at the club lounge to find afternoon tea laid out with sweet treats and cheeses. Yogurts and fruits, kapiti coast ice cream and cokes,l&P and diet coke cans to help yourself 24 hrs. Canapes and drinks were from 5.30pm until 8.30 and was a meal! with as much wine, beer, juice or spirits that you wanted. Chippies were provided between 11am-4pm. Breakfast was also served here and looked lovely but not as nice as eight buffet which you could choose to go to instead as part of the club lounge . The club lounge ambiance was lovely and relaxing. Quiet music in the background and the sun coming in . You had corners that you could tuck yourself away or be social in the mix of chairs. Very cosy.

The breakfast at eight was very yummy! the pastries were to die for. The hash browns were crunchy, tasted lovely and not fatty or oily. The selection was everything you wanted right down to weight watchers yogurt if you needed it! The movenpick ice cream strawberry one was divine.

I am going to bring my mum here for a treat soon. Thank you Langham for making my husbands birthday that extra bit special.! PS the chocolates were a lovely touch.

A very comfortable hotel and breakfast was amazing. Only frustration would be that Nernst not included so you have to at extra for that.... Doesn't seem right!
The pink shuttle to and from the harbour was very useful

We were able to stay here as a 'mystery hotel' deal on Wotif so became affordable. It was all one would expect from a 5 star hotel- excellent service. We would certainly be keen to saty again. We were visiting our daughter at Uni so very handy and also only a few minutes walking distance to the theatre.
