Stayed here for 2 nights in Feb at the start of our NZ holiday. We chose the Langham as we had stayed in the Langham in Melbourne last year and really enjoyed it. However, this time we were unable to get a Club level room, and perhaps that coloured our judgement a bit, but we just didn't think this was quite as good. For one thing the location isn't the best - about 20 mins walk downhill to the waterfront. They do have a shuttle bus but it only takes about 11 people and is every half hour.
The room was fine in terms of comfort but had no view, and was unremittingly beige and brown, with quite a low ceiling. A real contrast to the downstairs lobby which is beautiful with huge chandeliers.
We ate one night in the lobby bar (couldn't get into the restaurant as it was Valentine's Day!), and that was fine - Club sandwich and burger both very good. Breakfast was disappointing - NZ$ 28 for continental but we thought it was a limited choice of fruits and yoghurts for a 5 star hotel.
All in all, I'd look for somewhere else to stay if we returned to Auckland - a bit nearer the waterfront.More
