“Excellent 5star hotel!”

Stayed here for 2nights prior to our trip around New Zealand. After a long flight from the US, it was wonderful to be greeted so professionally and politely by all the reception staff. Booking in was dealt with quickly, even though we were a large party. The room was excellent, an executive I think. Very comfortable and well equipped. Meals especially breakfast, were top quality, brilliant choice, the only thing we could think of that wasn't available was grapefruit!! Looking forward to revisiting briefly next month.

We had booked for two nights in January. Left after one night. The Sealy bed was long past its replacement date. Felt like sleeping in a hammock. Staff where disinterested and lack of attention to detail and maintenance was apparent through all areas of hotel. Would never stay there again. Moved to the Sofitel Auckland Viaduct what a difference .The Langham is very over priced for what it delivers.

My wife and I spent 2 days prior to a cruise. Terrific property. Nice rooms, lovely lobby and very courteous staff. A little out of the way from the city center but still walkable. We walked to virtually all of the landmarks we wanted to see and it was an inexpensive taxi ride to cruise dock. Dining is average but several good restaurants nearby and concierge will make reservations.

Stayed at the Langham at the start of our 6week holiday in New Zealand. Our travel agent told us it was the best hotel in Auckland but it did not live up to expectations. The lobby is beautiful and we had great expectations,but our room had no view,with paint peeling off the window sills,not exactly 5 star. As we had already booked our return visit 6 weeks later we hoped for a better impression,but not so. We arrived at 2.30 after a very long and tiresome journey,to be told our room was not ready.We were asked to wait in the bar and were given a complimentary drink and nibbles. At 5.15 after repeated requests we were allocated a room,when we opened the door we were met by another couple who had also been allocated the same room. Very embarrassing !!!
When we asked for the duty manager he apologised and blamed a computer fault and as for the long delay he said they were very busy in February ! We asked for some compensation and were eventually given a complementary dinner ( which incidentally was very good ) but the fiasco spoiled what had been a fantasic impression of New Zealand

We realise our guests are often tired after long hours of travelling, and it is always our aim to provide rooms in a timely manner. This was our second visit to the Langham in one week and were again disappointed. Once again rooms were not ready for us despite arriving after 4 pm.

Having heard of the Langham's reputation we had been looking forward to our two stays here as part of our New Zealand 'holiday of a lifetime'. However, we were given the distinct impression that some other customers (aircrew) were more valued than ourselves.

One can forgive a problem if the management seem actually to care, but, from the deputy manager to concierge and reception clerk, no-one seemed prepared to go that extra distance to ensure customer satisfaction. That effort is mandatory in any hotel claiming to be 5*.

The Langham seems to need a total shakeup in management culture to reach a 21st century international standard of service.

Thank you for your comments and we would like to offer our sincere apologies for the delay you and your group experienced. We do understand how frustrating it is for you to be kept waiting for your room. This was unfortunately caused by the late check out of some groups in the hotel and the best efforts of our Housekeeping staff were inadequate to turn around rooms in time for your arrival. Knowing this was likely, as you know we set up a separate lounge with light food, beverages, beer and wine to try and make the wait as comfortable as was possible. We will be making every effort to ensure this does not happen again. Once again, our apologies for the delay.

We stayed at the Langham twice on our recent trip to New Zealand. Over New Year when we arrived and for 2 nights at the end of our holiday. The first thing that stands out is the sincere friendliness of the staff. You feel that they are not just being helpful because they want a good tip, but because they really care. The Eight restaurant is excellent and a bit different, having the chefs prepare the food you have chosen exactly as you want it while you watch them doing it. One fly in the ointment on New Year - we were ripped off over a bottle of champagne from the bar. I complained about this in the satisfaction survey in the room before we left. When we came back 4 weeks later, we had been upgraded to a better room and there was a free bottle of champagne on ice in our room, plus a letter of apology. Sometimes it's not that a mistake is made, but how it's handled that marks the quality of a place.

Great location service and facilities. As a jet lag rest stop at the start of our vacation, The Langham came up trumps, the bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet. With a free shuttle downtown and back(it's a stiff pull otherwise) it made it easy to get to the key sights. Food and service were as good as you would expect for this class of hotel, I would definitely give it my recommendation.
