“Good Hotel”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

The hotel is very good: clean comfortable rooms, very helpful staff, excellent breakfast buffet, The restaurant is also great but you have to make a reservation. The only thing we did not like was location. It is a little bit far from main attractions. The good thing is the hotel offers a free shuttle to the city center. In general - good place to stay.

Beautiful elegant Hotel that offers warm traditional almost old world ambience. The Palm Court is a lovely place to be weather your taking high tea of relaxing with a glass of wine.
Rooms are large and have a traditional decor, beds are super comfy.
Dinning at Eight was a wonderful experience with so many different options and cuisines, I went nuts on the Indian kitchen and the freshly prepared naan was superb.
The Langham is the perfect setting for a romantic get away or that special occasion.

We love this hotel. Have booked friends from overseas at the langham. If you want an amazing treat this is the place to be. The food is yummy, the service exceptional and they make you feel so very special. Also the wee shop is too tempting. This hotel is our choice and will select it when we are overseas.

Thank you for your positive comments about our service. It’s always our aim to make every guest feel welcome and valued, so it's good to hear we are succeeding. If you haven’t already, do ask about joining our 1865 loyalty programme (free to join). It means you can enjoy some great additional benefits (including late checkout and express check in) when you stay with us or at any Langham hotel overseas. We shall look forward to seeing you again soon.
Kind regards

Stayed here for a University Graduation, treated my family to the Langham. All the staff went out of their way to look after us. My parents were very impressed and would stay there again. A big thank you to Judy (Club Lounge) and Carno (1865 Manager) who went out of her way for a smooth graduation. Had dinner at Eight, this is a must do and is an excellent experience. As always the Langham sets the standard for 5 star service.

In a word overrated - I stayed 2 nights with work and on arrival was upgraded to an "Executive" room which was clean, but small. quite tired and very dark with large furnishings really dominating the room. Bed was ok, but pillows were thin and rock-solid.

With an interconnecting door in the room, I could hear everything that happened in the next room, including the pleasant noise of someone watching adult movies 24x7 and being intimate/belching/passing wind etc!

You could also hear anyone in the corridor (with a large gap under the door) - at 11pm one night the guy in the room opposite decided to go nuts, swearing at anyone & everyone passing - eventually after half an hour security turned up and persuaded him to go back into his room. I've felt safer in $50 a night American motels!

Overall staff were great and very professional, and the food/drink good (but very expensive).

Although The Langham seems to have this "posh" reputation it seems to attract more than it's fair share of troublesome guests - I can't see why you wouldn't pay $70 a night less (and pay half the amount for parking) and stay at The Heritage / Rydges / SkyCity etc which are much more pleasant overall.

Room Tip: Don't get an interconnecting room if you can help it!

Thank you for your comments and we do apologise for the noise issues you experienced during your stay with us – the hotel can be busy at times. We would like to reassure you that we take our guests’ security very seriously and make every effort to ensure a safe environment. Wherever possible, we are also happy to accommodate requests for a change of room. For future reference, our Club Rooms are located on the upper levels of the hotel, and these are a good option for guests who prefer added privacy and quietness.
Kind regards

We stayed a weekend at the Langham to attend a conference. The hotel is very much decorated in an ornate European style - no sleek modern sophistication here. The buffet breakfast is incredible, with everything you can imagine on offer. The service from all staff was very attentive without being obtrusive.
The lobby restaurant offers high tea, and although I did not partake, the tea and scones I did have were divine.
Our only complaint would be that our room had a distinct damp or musty odour. We didn't complain, but did leave the window open which assisted greatly. I suspect it is a plumbing issue, and the bathroom could do with a revamp.

This hotel is truly lovely. However the highlight for us was the restaurant. It is a buffet but you can pick out your items and they prepare it immediately for you. For instance, if you want a steak, or fish, you choose from the uncooked display and they will cook it to your satisfaction. They offered many unusual items as well. We loved it! The public areas on the main floor were very busy, perhaps too much so. They were often filled with people waiting to depart to the airport after checking out---so a bit noisy etc. We were concerned about the location at first but they have a free shuttle service that takes you to the main shopping area and from there it is quite walkable to the pier or other close spots. We enjoyed this hotel.
