What a fantastic place to visit. Great value, even though as an international visitor we had to pay ... The locals do not. We completely didn't mind this as it obviously pays for the many exhibitions. You can also pay a little extra to participate in the Maori show, but we did not choose to. It would be worth checking out the times if this is what you haven't experienced in the past. The place was huge and well laid out. The lower floor allow you to discover the Maori culture full of many items dating back thousands of years. We also visited the wildlife photographer of the year which was an exhibition on loan from London and it was fantastic. The kids will enjoy this place as everything is easy to view and there are many interactive pieces. We also thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits about volcanoes which allowed you to even experience a real one! The many bird life that was housed in the exhibit were wonderful. The level two is completely about war, ... Completely fascinating. It is housed in a beautiful building that gives you a wonderful clear view.
