Had a Friday night "do" on in the CBD, so got a room on a wotif special. The room was large, had a balcony, a mini kitchen, laundry....more than I needed for just the one night. Had a quiet nights sleep and breakfast in bed the following morning....delightful!

The spa jets didn't work and had to call staff at 3am after waking to a party the floor below, staff didn't seem to care. Apart from that Good rooms but we would not stay there again as staff did not care

My room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the city. It was nice to have the choice of a bath or a shower. Basic cooking facilities or a restaurant on the ground floor. The "dalek" air conditioning system was unusual, but efficient. Staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was tidy and clean, the hotel is looking a bit tired but is an interesting mix of old and new. They catered well for our group of 40 and the food was varied and very good. I heard a rumour of an in house gym and the pool looked nice and clean. The walk up the hill to the hotel from the city may be a bit of a challenge for some. There is a wide open spaces park area behind the hotel.

Yes we do have a gym in the hotel which is on level B1 and also a spa pool which is heated. I am happy to know that you enjoyed and experienced our food in the restaurant and also that our staff were helpful and friendly,as that is what we strive to achieve.

We look forward to having you stay with us in the near future.

We stayed here using a package deal off wotif, which included high tea, a night in an executive suite, 3 course dinner and breakfast. The location of the hotel is pretty good, but no better than any other hotel in the CBD. The hotel itself is definitely showing its age, all the decor is firmly set in the early 90's (I think the crockery in our room may have even been from the 1980's...) but is very clean. The room was huge and reasonably well appointed. The bed was comfortable and we had no road/city noise on the 4th floor. The hotel was a real ghost town though and didn't seem very busy at all.
The high tea was a little disappointing - a couple of tea bags and not even very fancy ones. The sandwiches had obviously been made the day before, but the savouries and tarts were OK.
The dinner in the restaurant was good, but I definitely wouldn't have been happy paying the prices listed on the menu for the food we received (which was good, but not $30+ good...) and the wine list is extremely limited.
Breakfast was also a little disappointing - the "big breakfast" is definitely a misnomer, with only 2 small pieces of bacon, a hash brown, a cocktail sausage, 2 eggs and a few mushrooms. There is a continental buffet as well, but the pastries and croissants were never re-stocked after they went.
Overall: a nice clean, comfortable and tidy hotel that really needs a refurb. Would make a good base for a stay in Auckland CBD, but lacks the polish of high-end hotels.

I have taken all your comments on board and passed these onto the relevant head of department to action. We do apologise for th lack of love with the buffet breakfast.

I do hope the negative aspects of your stay did not impede on your time in Auckland and we do hope to have the opportunity to accommodate you again in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to provide some valuable feedback on your recent stay with us.

Our rooms serviced on daily basis, and our housekeeping staff are very efficient and provide excellent service.
I am so sorry to hear that your room was not done, perhaps you accidently left a "Do not Disturb sign " on your door, hence they did not service your room.

The housekeepers however would have left a card under the door to advise to contact them before 4pm, if you required service. We apologise for the carelessness on our part.

As for the rates, we have great deals and packages on our hotel website, www.auckland.amorahotels.com. You may also contact our reservations team directly to check for our great Deals !

Thank you again for your valuable feedback

We arrived at the Amora at about 0645 after our long flight from LAX. We were both dead tired. The front desk advised us that our room wouldn't be ready for several hours as normal check in time was at 1400. Both our travel agent and I had previously requested that we be granted an early arrival. In any event, we were too tired to think about what we were going to do in the interim, so we sat in the lobby trying to c ome up with something. Much to our surprise, a manager came to us at about 0715 and said our room was ready. Needless to say we were greatly relieved. We slept all day and then had dinner in the hotel restaurant -- which was excellent.

Our room was fine. The only thing disadvantageous about the Amora is that it's sort of by itself. There were no shops or restaurants within waling distance nearby. We took taxis to the CBD and once took the Red Line bus from the Britomart center back to its Pitt Street stop an couple of short blocks from the Amora.

All in all, a pleasant stay. When we checked out I was surprised to notice that we had not been charged for an additional day due to our early arrival and occupancy -- which given our state upon arrival, I would have had no trouble paying for. In retrospect, I can only surmise that someone at the front desk had found our early arrival requests and had honored them. God bless them!!

Room Tip: Upper floor away from the lifts

Spa jets didn't work. Staff argued with us when we questioned the pathetic cheeseboard.

Asked for manager to contact me after our stay.. This never happened.

I would NEVER stay here again and strongly suggest you inspect rooms first
