“good location, but thats pretty much it”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 October 2009

hotel is well situated nearby the main walking street (Queen street) and the harbor. Interior is very old, with a very poor looking lobby and front desk. bags all over the lobby or people that had checked out at 11 but had late night flights to catch. rooms were musky and shabby and bathrooms were on the verge of being disgusting. shower took a while to figure out how to operate. good selection of tv channels though.

Really enjoyed our stay here.Stayed 3 nights with 10 y.o.Great access to the city, bus and train services. Concierge very helpful. Staff a bit stuffy but thats their problem not mine. Room was clean, comfortable and harbour views arent anything to die for but worth a look.

Spent 3 nights here on Auckland trip. It was the hotel in our tour package. We were surprised at the quality of the hotel on our budget package. Our room overlooked the street. We especially enjoyed the buffet breakfast. The restaurant was on the top floor and the windows overlooked the harbor on one side and the city skyline on the other. The varied food selection had something for everyone and the service staff were very professional. The hotel's location was convenient to the ferry, train and airport bus.

Good location, clean room and bathroom, laundry facility on the floor. Good for a budget acommodation (100 bucks or so per night plus 20 bucks per day for valet parking).

We stayed at both Mercure hotels in Auckland and this hotel is better. The location is excellent, at walking distance to the main Auckland attractions (tower, waterfront, etc) right at downtown. The hotel rooms are pretty small, the largest bed for a couple is a queen bed (no kink available) or you take 2 full beds. The room was very clean but is a bit dated, the entire building is somewhat old. But the hotel was well maintained especially at the reception area/elevators/hallways. Expect a good value-for money for a 3* hotel. Internet costs NZD10 for 2 hours.

I paid NZ$120 for a twin room on the 3rd floor. The room faced north and looked onto another building which obscured the harbour view. The other building was sufficient distance away (maybe 40m) to allow plenty of light into the room. The room was was very clean and comfortable. The beds were good, but the TV reception was only adequate. The bathroom was clean and well equipped. Overall I found the room to be good value for money.

As stated in other reviews this hotel is located in a great spot. Very central to leisure activities and public transport.

A great priced comfortable hotel which is centrally located in Auckland, and is just around the corner from the Viaduct where lots of fabulous restaurants and bars can be found. There is also a nice bar called Vertigo on the top floor of the hotel and it offers lovely views. We upgraded to a harbour view room, which was pleasant to wake up to, and found our room to be comfortable. Would definately stay here again.
