I had thoroughly reviewed this hotel before I booked it so I was aware of what to expect. The pictures presented on the hotel website were an accurate representation of what I saw during my stay. The airport bus drops off out the hotel as mentioned on the hotel website. I stayed in a single ensuite room. I was at the end of a coridoor which I suspect minimised noise. The room itself was clean and well serviced. There was a problem with the wifi during part of my stay; staff were very accommodating in providing coupons to use their computers until the wifi was fixed. There was noise in the hotel; people slamming their room doors, knocking on each other's doors and talking in the parking area were the main noises. I expected such events since a hotel for this price doesn't always attract people who respect that others are staying in rooms nearby. I have stayed in plenty of hostels in my youth, and this is a big step up from a hostel, but obviously it's not the Hilton. For the money I paid, I was very impressed and would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Thanks for your positive review. We agree it can be annoying when other guests are inconsiderate and roudy. We are toughening up on this and asking people to leave if they persist. Pleased that you enjoyed your stay and considered it excellent value. We look forward to hosting you again.

Had a pleasant stay here for 1 night in a standard double room. The location of the hotel is centralised and it is about 10 - 20 min walk away from the sky tower / shopping district / jetty. We took the airport bus and walked for about 10 min along a slope before reaching the hotel.

The room and shared bathrooms are clean and there's a small basin attached in the room for simple wash-up. There are plenty of food eateries (asian & western cuisines) located within walking distance. We never had problems finding food after 5pm because many of them open till around 10pm.

There's also free WIFI provided with a limit, but enough for a night stay there.

Thanks for the review and pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. It sounds as though you got off at the wrong bus stop as the airport bus stops right outside - although it's important to take the right one. Yes - lots of good value Asian style eateries nearby and of course we have typical Kiwi food in our restaurant.

The location for cost is amazing. Top of Queen St with easy walk to Train, Buses and Ferry. Not five star but just been done up with anything you may need. Will defineately stay there again and would recommend. Staff were also helpful. Little hard to find, driving up Qeen St cant turn right into it as traffice island in road, go past and turn into drive beside, back out and turn left into hotel.

Thanks for your enthusiastic review. Good things can be a little harder to find at times. The advantage is that being set back from Queen St (overlooking Myers Park) it is quieter than you would expect for such a central location.

Since it's a budget hotel, something has to look budget- in this case, it was the stained carpets (room 226). Otherwise, all good! FREE parking was a plus! By 5pm on a Thursday, lot was full except for some *very* challenging spots. I wouldn't recommend driving out to dinner- chances of having a spot when you come back are probably thin.

Our room had an *awesome* view of the Sky Tower. There's a bus stop close by, and it's roughly a 25-minute walk to the ferry terminal. This is *not* a party hotel, and there are warnings at reception letting you know that you get one warning, then you get the boot.

Room Tip: Request a room facing the Sky Tower

Thanks for your positive review. We checked out the carpet after your comments. There is some minor discoloration but you need good eyesight to pick that up! Glad you enjoyed your stay and we agree - it is a nice view of the Sky tower.

Coming from Auckland Airport, this hotel is easy to find if you are on the airport bus and with loads of luggage. Get on the bus which goes via 'Dominion Road' and alight on the first stop along Queen Street. Ask the driver if in doubt, who will be glad to announce the arrival at the correct stop. The drivers are very friendly and know most of the hotels in central Auckland. Walk down the slope a little and turn left towards the hotel.

The 4-storey building indeed is old, but seems to have been repainted and refurbished recently. The receptionist was friendly as were the housekeeping staff. There seemed to be two wings; You know you're in the old wing as the hallways seem like wood and creak as you walk along, You know you're in the new wing as the floor suddenly feels soild and the creaking is gone.

Single economy rooms, with shared bathrooms are located in the old wing. These carpeted rooms are small, perhaps 15ftX8ft. The bed appears to be a 'super single' and was comfortable to sleep in. A small writing desk and chair is provided with a rack to hang your clothes above. Importantly, a small sink with hot/cold water and mirror is also provided in the room. The shared bathroom is located at the far end for males and near the lift lobby for females. The bathrooms get rather dirty in the mornings, until housekeeping cleans them. Apart from the thin and flimsy windows, this room would be a good choice for solo travellers on a budget.

Double/Twin 'deluxe' and the apartments are located in the new wing. The deluxe room is also small, but functional with an ensuite bathroom. A wardrobe, writing desk and chair, telephone and television are part of the amenities provided. Unlike the economy rooms, tea/coffee sachets and electric kettle are included in the rooms. The ensuite bathroom is small and larger-sized guests may find it a squeeze to use the shower.

Breakfast was not included in the rate; the cafe near the lobby advertised a limited range of breakfast items. Otherwise, there are many eateries located along Queen Street and Kawanghape Road which cater to different tastes (Western, Asian, Muslim, etc).

Free parking is available at the hotel but lots are very limited. Illegal parking seems to be taken very seriously tow trucks do not hesitate to remove your vehicle, which would be a big headache in you vacation.

There are pricier hotels further down Queen Street which would suit those with a bigger budget. For travellers on a tighter budget or just need a place to sleep at night, the Kiwi International Hotel provides a clean and comfortable stay in Auckland.

Room Tip: Spend a little more and get the deluxe instead of economy rooms.
