“Good Value and Location, Average Stay”
Reviewed 10 August 2013

An excellent location in downtown Auckland, walking distance to many attractions. The price was better than many of the other nearby hotels.

However, it felt more like a hostel than a hotel. The rooms were very small. But if you're just looking for a place to crash (as we were), the Kiwi International Hotel is a great choice.

We highly recommend the breakfast - very tasty and huge, really fills you up!

Thank you for your review and positive comments. We're pleased you appreciated the value and location which is what we are all about. We are definitely not a hostel but at the value end of full service hotels. For example we don't have valet parking but instead you can park your own car at no charge.

Stayed in a double room with included bathroom. Boiling hot shower and decent room for the price. No spare pillows do you have to be used to sleeping with one. No heating systems in the room and as per other reviews, is not the most quiet place. However, AMAZING Breakfasts and great staff.
would return here again if on a budget

Many thanks for your review. Your title "Great value, perfect location” really sums up what the Kiwi Int Hotel is all about. The hotel is centrally heated and all rooms except for a few have in room raditator heating. The others have portable heating as required. We'll pass on your enthusiastic comments on the breakfast to our chef.

Stayed in their single economy room for 1 night before flying home. Location wise it is great; near to everywhere. Check in/out was smooth and they also provided luggage storage. Luckily my room was easily accessible from the elevator. It was small, as expected, with shelf, cloth hangers, and wash basin which were useful. Very quiet because overlooking the inner courtyard. The bed turned out to be very comfortable; one of the best during my NZ trip. And I also love the colorful paintings they have in the corridor and your room; really lightens up the mood. Now the CON: when I entered the room, it smelt damp. Opening the window for fresh air air did help. Ladies shower and toilet were located at the end of the hall. Though they need interior facelifts, all worked well. However, I was not comfortable with the long walk in the empty corridor, though.. But in the next morning it was better as there were more people around (other guests checking out, cleaning ladies). The travel desk at the lobby also gave me a good price for visiting the aquarium. It was an okay stay for short period; unfortunately I was awaken several time by my neighbor's snoring next door. Not the hotel's fault though..but better bring earplugs.

Thank you for your review. We're pleased our economy rooms generally suited your purposes. While they are the best value private hotel room in central Auckland they do have some minor shortcomings as expected for the price. If your budget allows it's much better to take one of our ensuite rooms which comprise most of the hotel.

Hotel has basic requirements and was clean and tidy. Good shower but a toilet built for a very short person. Appears to be recently refurbished and has free wifi. Very central with a 15 minute stroll downhill to the city centre. Worth a go.

I stayed for 4 nights in this hotel in a single room with ensuite.
The first night was not good it was way to hot for me.
The heaters in the room are not adjustable so I let the front desk know and they moved me in a more comfortable room without hassle.
The cleanliness off the rooms facilities and hotel are very good, the staff very friendly and helpful and you can get a nice peaceful sleep.
The location is on the main street off Auckland but the quiet side. I can understand that for some people the location on top of a hill is not that great. I loved it, gave me some exercise but there are also many buses that come past that can take you up and down the hill.
Also a great location cause the airport bus stops right in front off the hotel.

Finally chose this hotel because it has free parking and near to central, and of course, the price is fair enough. I and my friend shared a double room, the space is fine, but only has one plug for charging, very inconvenient. Anyway, the location is good, price is cheap, clean room with towels and shampoo were provided, good enough. The Korean BBQ next to Kiwi is yummy and just $19 pp for dinner, nice!

Thank you for your review. We're pleased you found the place suited your needs and represented good value. We agree with your point re the electrical outlets. Some rooms could do with more and we're looking into this. We look forward to hosting you again sometime.

I didn´t stay at the hotel but i booked the rooms for a delegation from Colombia. Everyone told me that the rooms were clean, the food was good and the service was really great. I went sometimes with them and I noticed that was true. 100% recommended.
