It has plenty of power points -yes, but i`m talking about where you plug your appliances in. Apart from this small plus, -we were lured here by the AA advertising travel guide book as to where to stay in New zealand. The cover photo of the hotel was pleasant-the desciption-enticing. The price was wonderful (59 to 79 dollars) and even accounting for an increase in not quite of-fpeak rate,it should have been reasonable.
However-we endevoured to find the place in town -(never easy when getting into CBD`s which i think they rely on)-We managed to fine queen street;once here, being tired after our travels we accepted the 20 dollar increase in tariff as we had no energy to argue.Ah, we were told the best rooms go to internet bookings-really,wow-ok, then don`t advertise any other way........We hauled our luggage up to the lift-which only went to the 2nd floor,at which time we had to transfer to another lift to get to the third floor-this is normal.
The room:-tiny-(no aircon)-a view of a courtyard(unlike what the advert promised)-single pillows on the bed-shower had to be discovered, and 10 useless channels on TV-Not even news). The noise i wont even mention from the hallways and adjacent rooms.
As for a not-smoking room-why the cigarette burns everywhere.
I`m not happy with this hotel. I will drink a half bottle of Glenfiddich to get myself to sleep and eject myself as soon as possible.(The sparrows won`t even be farting)

We think this review is unfair. We have remained for some time No.1 in TripAdvisors "Best Value" category for Central Auckland hotels for a reason. Clearly an old version of the AA Guide was used as our pricing is always correct if you have the current edition. We will check the carpet and have it repaired if what the reviewer states is actually correct.

First of all carpark is not very big & some of the parks are quite tight, no good if you have a large vehicle, need to get in early to get a park. Arrived just after 2pm however my room wasn’t ready and waited for more than half an hour before it finally was ready. The receptionist was apologetic. However in my room there was rubbish on the floor in the wardrobe and I found a USB stick and empty food wrapper under the bed. The twin room was basic and no fridge. Bed was comfortable however the pillows looked shabby. The plus side was the bathroom was nice and modern and shower was really good. Lots of power points which was handy. Has free wifi but had trouble connecting, when it did connect, it would only be for about 10 minutes & then lose connection again, very frustrating, it was like that most of the evening. It is quite noisy, and you constantly hear doors slamming. Ideal location if you want to be in the central city although it is near the top of Queen St so if you are walking down to the Viaduct, etc, it is about a 2km uphill walk.

Thanks for your review. Your stay with us was at the busiest we have ever been so our apologies for the noise which can occur sometimes when there is a big concert on in the city as was the case here. Good to see tat you were able to take advantage of our free parking - rare for such a centrally located hotel.

We stayed here on the last night of our road trip because of flights back were from Auckland. It was a last minute booking and the twin bedroom cost us 120NZD. This hotel is a little hard to find but it is in a very good location. You can practically walk to the city center ( technically Queen St is in the CBD). Many restaurants, pharmacies, shopping malls nearby. Rooms are tiny but very clean. Beds are comfortable and there are hot water jugs in the room. It is definitely a budget hotel but very decent price and service wise. And for that great location, what more can you want?

We stayed in this hotel for one night. Room was clean but very small and somehow had not much ventilation so it was hot inside the room. They provided internet facility which was very helpful. Also the staff was helpful. They had a small information centre, where Flexi Tours assisitant was present in the hotel, from where we got other bookings done. She was helpful and helped us to get some deals and save some money. She also got car booked for us.As Feb is the peak time, all rental cars were booked, but that lady helped us get the booking done.

In all its easy to reach the hotel by the Airbus Shuttle. Its on the main street so everything was walking distance away. Location is perfect. Though the small and hot room was the only problem.

Booked three nights at the Kiwi International on the basis that it was reasonably close to Auckland city centre. It is also easy to find and here, take a tip, use the Airport Flyer bus as it is fairly cheap and the first stop is right outside the hotel. Check in is straight forward and although decidedly budget, the hotel is clean and well presented. It has to be said that the desk staff are not the most helpful and despite several requests, were unable to point me in the direction of somewhere to get something to eat and drink. My single room was compact but clean and by the look of it, recently decorated. Bathroom small but immaculate. Tea and coffee making facilities and modern flat screen tv as standard. No complaints. Later in the evening I discover the delights of a NZ happy hour and the fact that Leanne runs a good bar and is also a good cook. Doubly confirmed in the mornings with a $12 cooked breakfast that really sets you up for the day. Only a 10 minute walk from the city centre, wharf and sky tower. Highly recommended.

I stayed here one night and I found this place really good value for money! I had a single room which was very tiny (but very clean!), but what else do you need for a one night stay than a bed, shower and a place for you luggage? The room had even coffee making facilities, nice! Good location, friendly staff.

We stayed here for 3 nights and we were not impressed. They allowed us to check-in early as we had arrived at 7am after traveling all night, which was great. However when we made it up to our room and let ourselves in it was already occupied which made for a very awkward encounter. The second room he then sent us to was on the first floor and was a dump. There was no room to move and all the furnishings look like they were 20 years old, not to mention the grime and stains all over the shower. The third room we were sent to was on the third floor which was acceptable - the only issue was we had to take two different (very questionable) elevators just to get to our room!
Once we were in our 3rd room we had a nice view over the park and the room was acceptable for the price we paid.

Room Tip: Do not go for ground floor.

It seems here we let ourselves (and the guest) down by trying to help them out with an early check-in. Most hotels require an extra night to be paid if you're arriving at 7 in the morning and expect to check in then. It's good that all ended well for the reviewer as their last sentence reveals - "Once we were in our 3rd room we had a nice view over the park and the room was acceptable for the price we paid."
