Oh so nice. Beautifully decorated hotel with nice vintage furniture. Very friendly staff and super location. Fresh and clean rooms. We very much enjoyed our stay here. This was an excellent start of a 3 week NZ vacation. If we ever come back to Auckland, we would definitely go back to DeBrett.

Hotel DeBrett is located slap bang in the heart of Auckland. It's only 5 minutes walk from the marina and railway station in one direction and the Skytower in the other. Rooms are spacious and the beds are sumptuous. Decor is amazing and staff are great. A hotel of real character.

Room Tip: Stayed here on arrival in New Zealand and just prior to departure. Used two different rooms, both ex...

Not much to add really - well thought out Kiwi take on hipness. Very knowledgeable staff, with five star levels of service. Why stay at a bland chain five star? If you have the money, you will be not disappointed. A case study in ATTENTION TO DETAIL - Alex Polizzi would wet her knickers.

I travelled to Auckland for a holiday with my husband and my parents, where we stayed at Hotel DeBrett for 2 nights in their classic rooms on level 2.

This 25 room boutique hotel is beautifully designed in hip, fun colours and decor which juxtaposes nicely with its historical facade. The drawing room, bar and restaurant are standouts in design and aesthetics. The rooms are equally hip in design but may not appeal to mature guests (my parents did not love the design and found it quite distracting). The bathrooms are cleverly designed with sectioned off areas.

A very simple continental breakfast is complimentary, served by the hotel's friendly staff. The manager on duty during my stay provided exceptionally service and cannot be faulted. There are also complimentary pre-dinner drinks which is served daily, unfortunately we missed it on both days during our stay, but I appreciate these thoughtful touch points.

Valet parking is available at $25/night which is recommended as there are no available street parking. To those who drive, be careful when you approach the hotel as this one way street is tiny with cars parked on either side.

The location is very central, 10 mins walk to most good restaurants. There are also some cute little bars around the area and lots of shopping around.

While I enjoyed my stay at Hotel DeBrett, I think there are a few things the hotel can improve on:
1.There are no toothbrush, toothpaste or slippers in the rooms. While this wasn't an issue for my husband and I, my parents did not come prepared. When we asked for these, we were told they are available for purchase at a (fairly) unreasonable rate. We ended up getting our supplies from a convenience store down the road. I understand that a lot of hotels don't prepare these amenities anymore but I expected a hotel of this caliber to have such amenities.
2. The decor, while lovely in design seems a little faded in certain areas. The carpet in the hallways and common areas could benefit from a refreshing.
3. Sound proofing can be improved on in certain rooms. The room I stayed in (the first room as you enter the hallway) was quite noisy at night. The noise can be attributed to 2 things. The lifts is right next to the room and the noise from the restaurant and bar. Since the restaurant and bar is quite popular with functions and events, it can get quite loud very late into the night.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience but for the price and recommendation on Mr & Mrs Smith, I just expected more.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lifts and entrance. If you book via Mr & Mrs Smith, you will receiv...

This hotel has a great location and our rooms were large and comfortable as was the bathroom. Bereakfast was good. The only slight gripe was that by mistake I left a whole lot of clothes in the room and because we were not leaving til really late in the day and our bags were being looked after by the hotel the cleaners could have passed them onto reception or have let them know. Still giving them an excellent but through grated teeth.

We recently had a 2 night stay at this delightful hotel. The car parking is well organized, after unloading our luggage, the car was whisked away but available at any time with a few minutes notice. Our room was not huge, but beautifully furnished especially the high tech lighting and communications equipment. The bed is exquisitely comfortable, there is absolutely no street noise thanks to double glazing so restful sleep is assured. The bathroom decor is elegant with a large shower and a huge bath all with fabulous contemporary fittings and space to move. We enjoyed using the guest lounge where complimentary drinks are served each evening. Dinner on our first evening at the restaurant was a nice experience with a good menu and knowledgable staff. The delicious continental breakfast has plenty of choice. Staff were friendly and very helpful with our questions on sightseeing and road maps etc. Highly recommended.
