“Stylish little gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

Had a lovely little staycation here (we actually live a short distance away, avoiding neighbours party). The room was beautifully furnished, not huge but certainly big enough with a gorgeous bathroom through french doors. Our room was between the lift shaft and the road, but is obviously well insulated as noise was not an issue. The complementary pre-dinner drinks in the drawing room were a lovely touch and a chance to chat to other guests before hitting the town. The central location means there are plenty of options for your evening - Britomart bars and restaurants beckoned but you could head up High Street or elsewhere in the city and cinemas and theatres are within walking distance. The only niggles were maybe a bit more leg room in the toilet cubicle and the little booklet on Auckland needed updating as some of the information was obsolete. Other than that we both enjoyed our stay immensely and would certainly go back again.

We stayed a weekend at Hotel DeBrett on a romantic get away from all. Perfect location as this is the only boutique hotel in Auckland CBD providing all the amenities other five star hotels do but without the crowds and large spaces. You are in a different world, away from everything but still in city centre, everything Auckland can offer is within walking distance. The hotel is decorated with style, the colours are vibrant and the spaces are intimate. We loved our 2-story room with a living room and bathroom downstairs and the master bedroom with a large bathroom upstairs. Huge bed, luxurious toiletries and comfy bathrobes came with the room. Dinner at The Kitchen was faultless, the Chef did an amazing job, we hardly eat a 3 course meal but here, we couldn't stop at the mains. The presentation, the flavours was just amazing. Service was smooth and elegant, not too uptight still very professional, just the way we like it. A nice band played in the background. We love the courtyard design, the small waterfall and the open kitchen - again, it was designed and decorated with taste and elegance. Breakfast was again fantastic, a good selection of healthy options - fruits and yoghurts with fresh juices and cereals - on the buffet was more than enough for us. Highly recommended for romantic city get aways, we will definitely return.

My family recently had an evening meal at Hotel DeBrett. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and although the restaurant was very busy , we were served promptly and received great service from the staff. We highly recommend this hotel for a great dining experience.

Do not think twice about booking at DeBrett the first or next time you stay in Auckland. DeBrett is definitely a different stay from your usual brand name hotels. The charm, history and vibe can be felt from the time you walk into the lobby, and continue as you walk the stairs, halls, rooms and public areas.

We loved the guest rooms, their amenities and decor. And do not plan to be on a diet when going to eat at the restaurant as we had a fantastic dinner at the restaurant the night we arrived.

My husband and I chose the DeBrett for an overnight in the city based upon trip advisor reviews.

What a great experience!

Small but beautifully done with real attention to detail. We stayed in boutique suite 1.6 and had no issue with street noise at all.

The bed was really comfortable and complete with luxurious bedding and plenty of pillows.

My only criticism is that with the free room internet, you only have the ability to log one device onto the internet at once.

We visited the DeBrett kitchen for breakfast. A continental breakfast with bread, pastry and cereal was included in the cost of the room. My husband chose this option while I decided to order from the menu. They have gluten free options and the bacon was the best I've had in any country, ever.

We didn't get to enjoy the bar or the honour bar lounge but saw both and thought they would be fun and relaxing places to unwind.

The location on High Street is perfect. Great shopping nearby and lots of other restaurant choices within quick walking distance.

At the end of our short stay, we thought that we'd make it a point to book a full weekend at the DeBrett in the near future as a mini getaway.

I'd recommend this hotel over Sky, the Pullman or the Langham any day because of the intimate and personalised atmosphere.

stayed for a couple days on a work trip. Fantastic experience, and much better than the 'chain' options found in every city.
will definitely come back again, even just for a weekend to stay in the hotel (and shop on high street, and eat nearby).

Room Tip: reading previous reviews, and only staying on one room, they are probably all ok.

This room overlooks the inside atrium of the hotel.

Not my favorite kind of concept, no fresh air and no outside views,

I wish we had known earlier I would not have taken this room.

I need he fresh air and the view of the street or the city.

The hotel otherwise is brilliant. Very Art Deco and very tastefully done with so much thought to detail.

The room without the loft is small for a family of 4, like our room 2.8 since there was just one toilet and he room size itself was small

The hotel is very boutique and very beautiful

Very centrally located.
I am just unhappy about not being informed that we did not get the street view room, we were assigned the indoor viewing rooms.

Not sure whether to ask them for a change or just stick with this as we are only staying 2 nights.

The lobby manager was very friendly and helpful especially considering we arrived so late at night and he took excellent care in ensuring we were up in our rooms quickly and could settle down from a long day of travel.

I appreciated his attention to our comfort.

I would recommend this hotel,
However please make sure you ask them for your room preference

I am not a big fan of indoor facing rooms!
