The Hostel is alright it's a 20 minute walk from the City. Can be really exhausting with your backpack. But you can use the bus. Guess the location has it's pro and cons. When you don't need to be in the city itself you can definitely stay there. Really close to the museum and to a street where you can get everything you need aswell. 10-15 minut walk to countdown.

The manager had some $ eyes.

Room Tip: They got two buildings. Choose the main one but not one of the "bungalows".

I like small hostels, but this one didn't accept how small it is. We had to pay 20 dollars to sleep in our car. 20 dollars!!!!!, ok it's auckland I understand. Check out is at 10 am, and you have to leave the premises. This is the first time ever, and I have been in hostels around the world, for 7 years and it's the first time that I have to leave right away. One bathroom with 2 toilets downstairs. And because of the location, 10 pm curfew and closed kitchen. The only nice thing was the staff, super nice front desk girl. but that is it. it felt like one of those hostels that only do it for the money and nothing else.

I liked the hostel - I stayed in a dorm - it's really cozy and yes there could be some renovations but it is okay. you can wash and dry your stuff, sit on the porch or cook in the well equipped kitchen. it's located in Parnell, which is the oldest and cutest district of Auckland. But this also means if you walk there it's going to take you a lot of time to do so and you'll have to go up a really steep hill. The inner and outer link drive there, however ... So all in all I recommend it.

A nice hostel with very friendly and helpful hosts. We arrived in Auckland at 6am after a long flight from Los Angeles. They made up our room first so we could get some much needed rest. It was a nice double upstairs. They help each person when they arrive get information on the area. Nice quiet neighborhood. Short trail to the museum.

Positive:
Quiet location not far from Inner Circle Line bus stop; garden; free coffee&tea.
Negative:
My room (- maybe the worst in the house -) was smelly, an uneven vitrified terrace (window front over three sides, too bright in the morning). Sometimes responsible and informed reception staff was neither on site nor accessible by phone: I couldn't modify a booking for a later date (and so it was easiest to cancel it and to look for an alternative somewhere else).

Room Tip: I can't recommend the first floor double room with windows on three sides.

Too bad this beautiful location and original property has been so compromised by the management overloading the premises. The off-street parking spaces were filled with people sleeping in their cars; more people were accommodated in tents in the backyard, mattresses in the yoga room, and a camper in the side yard. This meant overcrowding of the toilet and shower facilities, the kitchen, and the dining and outside areas. I couldn't wait to get out of there.

Excellent location, within reasonable walking distance of the Auckland CBD (and even closer to Auckland Domain and the Auckland Museum), in a rather upscale and very quiet neighborhood, about the perfect distance away from the nearest busy street. Both Inner Loop and Outer Loop buses stop a block away on Parnell St., which is lined with shops and a variety of close-by restaurants (including a fine Indian and good Thai one); most - but not all - a bit pricey. The owners are very friendly and helpful (though the office hours are a bit short - gap in the afternoon). The building oozes charm (and is in adequate, though not great, repair), with very pleasant grounds. Quiet at night. Showers and bathrooms are separate (so people taking showers in the morning don't block others out of the toilets ...). Kitchen is of adequate size, though a bit more room wouldn't hurt. Parking for 4 or 5 cars off-street. Additional free on-street parking is usually available nearby, though it can get tight at times (from limited experience, late afternoon especially seems to be a problem; early evening usually much better).

Mini-mart a block away; huge supermarket ~20 minute walk, on the edge of the CBD.

Room Tip: Many of the double rooms are clustered about a north facing top-floor balcony. Room 9, on the corne...
