“Excellent location”
Reviewed 22 October 2011

Stayed in a one bedroom apartment for 2 nights during the recent Rygby World Cup, as there were three of us had to use the pull out sofa bed and apart from not enough pillows - quickly remedied by reception it was very nice. Full size kitchen, roomy living area despite angular architecture. Again, windows were a little draughty and didn't block out street noise which is a shame as there is a major road running next to the hotel. Location is excellent, about 5 minutes walk to Viaduct Harbour and same to Sky Tower.
Restaurant ok if starving but there are nicer places within easy walk.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor to minimise road noise

excellent base to explore this lovely city. one bedroom apartment was so spacious it was great for a 3 nite stay and finding a washing machine plus a dryer in the bathroom was a added bonus. front desk was excellent and could not have been more helpful. really enjoyed our stay and as it coincided with world cup the atmosphere in the viaduct and surrounds was fantastic!!

I stayed here in a one bedroom apartment, which was huge compared to other hotels, the kitchen was fully equipped with a normal size stove and fridge,I was up on one of the top floors, and it was very quiet, despite the hotel being located on a busy street. The room was clean and well presented. This hotel is close to everything in the city, including the motorway.
I felt that the reception area was a little poor, considering it's a rather upmarket hotel, other than that everything was ok.

The hotel was nice and our room was okay but it wasn't great. The front-desk service was terrible, on arrival we had no greeting, no smile and no information, we weren't even told which floor our room was on, or which direction to go and he didn't even listen to our query so we had to explain all over again. We not once received a smile from the main receptionist during our 2 night stay. Our door didn't lock and had to ask twice to get it fixed, our heating did not work, told reception but nothing was done so had a very cold sleep with one thin bedspread. Pool was good however and very friendly room service.

By far one of the better hotels in this price range we have stayed at. Had a view of the sky tower, flat screen TV in lounge and bedroom as well as a kitchenette. Room was very clean and comfortable. They did however require a bond of $250, which we were not told about until checking in and the bond was actually taken off my card and did not get put back on until after the weekend - which could have been an inconvenience. Very central, 10 minute walk to Princess Wharf and Queen Street.

A large stain on one of the bedspreads and a musty smell on entering the room probably wasn't the best start.
The room itself was set up for long term stays, i.e washing machine(very spacious), kitchenette(well appointed) and a walk in ward robe that was as roomy as the kitchenette.
The shower space was sadly lacking in room,( a cut off corner shower with not much room to move)Parking really expensive at $30 for the night, so by the time you pay $169 room rate with b/fast plus the parking you can find far superior rooms in the city for this price which include the same things but are of far better standard.Park up the road at Wilson's which was $9/overnight - although this probably wouldn't include the day as well which I think the grand chancellor would have but I had only booked for the night.
Service personnel were cool to rude, especially in the restaurant for breakfast.
If you are a poor sleeper then you may find this place a tad noisy, it has no double glazing and on the corner of 2 busy streets.

My husband, son and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The room had a little kitchenette in but we did not use this. The sofa was convereted into an extra bed for my son, this was okay. The room was clean but a couple of things in the bathroom were broken.
For a short stay this hotel was adequate
