Stayed a few nights enjoyed my stay . It is close every where in the city . A short walk to the docks , sky city, or to the central city. Service was good and prices ok. Will stay again. The staff were helpful when I needed to know something . I will stay there again without question. I would recommend to stay there.

Despite our booked room not being ready by 2pm, the effort of the front of house staff member to get us into something of the same standard was great and appreciated.
Location wise, it's hard to beat this hotel, a couple of roads to cross and you're in the Viaduct restaurant area, and a nice short stroll to Queen St and Sky City.
The kitchen, lounge and bedroom are all very nice, although a little disappointing to see old style small TV's here.
If there's one criticism of this property, and I've stayed here a few times for business, its the bathrooms.
Small, pokey and a shower over a bath that is definitely not ideal, especially for someone taller, and we both found this poor.
Still, not a huge deal for one night, and overall the pros outweigh the cons

Room Tip: Higher is better, low rooms get road noise

We had a Mum & daugters night away. The staff were sooo nice and helpful, courteous, respectful especially Lee. They never made us feel like we were asking too many questions or annoying them.
Hotel was close to the city, the viaduct and downtown westfield. We had a great time. A few hundred metres from Dennys Resturant where kids dine free Mon-Fri.

We have stayed at the Grand Chancellor in Auckland twice now and both times have found it to be good value for the price. We have a one bedroom suite and it is spacious enough for two people. The location to Central Auckland is excellent and we could walk to most of the places we needed to visit in the central city and the viaduct. There is underground parking on site but at $30.00 per night it is quite expensive and having to go to reception to access the parking area each time you left the hotel was a bit of a nuisance. The suite we had was clean and not at all dingy. The staff are pleasant and helpful and we enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Recommend asking for an upgrade to a suite rather than just a bedroom if possible. Better value for...

The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly but the hotel rooms need updating a bit. Which is surprising for a hotel that doesn't look that old. Our room was a bit dull and dingy. The bathroom was OK but the bath enamel was severely chipped. The cooked breakfast could have been fresher at times, most items looked like they had been out for a while.

This hotel needs a bit of a refurb. It is basic and cheap in decor. And the building is a bit tired.
It obviously gets it's 4* rating from the facilities it has - restaurant, pool etc - but the standard, quality and comfort of the rooms is definitely not reflected by the 4* rating. An ok place just to lay your head for the night - but spend a few more dollars and stay somewhere else if you want superior comfort or quality or a romantic stay.

Me and my partner stayed her 16th June 2012. Our room was clean but the tv was tiny (size of my home computer) The bathroom was dark with bad lighting and the shower was very small with the shower curtin sticking to you the whole time. We were really looking forward to spending time in the indoor heated pool and sauna. We were told the sauna wasnt open until 5pm and closed at 10pm.We had a look at the pool and no one was in it and I could see why. It was very dirty with mold all along the rim. The sauna was really dark and scary. The floor was full of water and toliet paper on floor. I figured they would clean it before it opened at 5pm but I was wrong. My partner wouldnt even go in the pool since it was dark and dirty. A total let down for us as this was a special weekend away from the kids and grind.
