I booked this hotel on location and price. I then read the reviews and was a little apprehensive. From the moment we arrived the staff were unfailingly courteous and helpful. The one bedroom suite we booked was clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The noise from the street outside was minimal as the traffic really stops during the night. Breakfast was great. This would be my first choice to stay in the city again.

The weekend staff were helpful and friendly when we were given the wrong room. New room seemed OK but a bit unloved. The cleaning seemed really basic and there were stains on the covers and lots of peeling paint and mold spots in the bathroom. One flat pillow each on the bed, no mattress protector and only one very thin and sad uncovered duvet.

When we were about to leave I moved the bed to pick up what I thought was a sock .. turns out that a past occupant had left old empty make up bottle, broken makeup powder, several clothing labels all of which were covered in thick dust... YUK!

Several items were missing from the room... hope they don't think we took them. I tried to talk to the desk staff during the week while I waited for a cab. but the only response was "well you are leaving now Madam so we will do this later. " On the last day I finally had time and I tried again and offered some eco friendly cleaning tips since they say in the room a it is an Eco choice hotel.. no response but "I hear you Madam"... several times over. I have put this in writing to the Hotel and hope for other guests and the Planet that they can shape up. as the eco side seems to be about cleaning less during or stay but still using really strong chemicals that could be smelt in the halls and lifts when guest leave. yet still the room was dirty and dusty.

For a rack rate of $330/night I can see why they are needing to discount to less than half this on several sites.

Maybe we were just experiencing some bad luck at this place, but we were not very impressed when we checked out after 3 nights here, The carpets were dirty, as were the decorative pillows on the bed. After the second day, we came back to find the room in the same state as it was when we left it. No room service. We did however get new towels from the reception and apologies and promises of room service the next morning (which we got). The restaurant was not open, so no breakfast was available at the time. The next morning we were woken by the fire alarm, apparently some of the staff has burnt bread in the toaster, and all the guests had to evacuate.

On the positive side; nice kitchenette (we had a studio), comfortable bed and good sound proofing. The location is also superb, with a 2 minute stroll to Queen street.
Underground parking was available for 10-20$/night.

We got a last minute price of 99 dollars per night without breakfast. As we could see around the city, you could probarbly find something better for the same price, but if your after an average hotel, centrally located, this might be a place to look in to.

Booked this on line at a good price, however cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired!!! Had to request that duvet and bedspread that covered it be changed immediately as both were soiled/stained. On closer examination the bathroom floor tiles were cracked and broken in one area, also the drapes were filthy and mouldy along the bottom.
Then on the second night there was a noise issue with the guests in the room 2 doors away partying all night, they were asked x3 (by management and myself) to be quiet to no avail. Finally the manager allowed us to move to another room to sleep but by this time it was 0130 and as we had to be checked out by 0800 due to commitments not much sleep was had. Overall a very disappointing end to our vacation.

The reason for our stay was the ColdPlay concert at Vector Arena and the hotel is located an easy 15 minute walk from this venue. It is also located very close to the Viaduct for restaurants. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which overlooked the viaduct and harbour so we had stunning views. Yes, open the door to the balcony and you get traffic noise but you're in downtown Auckland! Close it and the room was quiet, clean and very spacious and comfortable. Absoultely no complaints and would definately stay here again!

Located almost across the road from the Viaduct, this newish hotel is a great option for anybody on a budget who wants to explore the city from a comfortable base. The hotel is reasonably new, so the room was clean, modern, and even contained a kitchenette, while the hotel also provided a guest laundry. Booked on WOTIF, this hotel was amazing value for the location and quality of the facilities. I would definately stay again.
