I stayed in this hotel for 2nights, it was the worst 2nights sleep i have ever had!! Our room was facing Beach Road and everytime a truck or something passed by the window and door or the room rattled...had 2buy earplugs for the 2nd night!! The shower was a disaster and room horrible. I would not advise anyone to stay here, its disgusting!!

I stayed here 3 nights. The hotel is old and run down, but not so bad. The bed was clean and comfortable. The shower was good. There was a bit of a view out the window. The location was convenient. Staff were helpful. There's a great restaurant and a good bar on the top floor (both with separate management).

Two problems I had:
There was a TV in the room that did not work properly. The manager made all sorts of promises to fix or replace it, but never did.
The only parking available was right next to the hotel but cost $4 per hour during business hours.

This hotel is okay for the price, but there are much better hotels in Auckland for only a little more money.

Well, don't have any problems.

Good location, Clean Room and Friendly Staff.

Yes, the room is a bit small and the hotel is very old, but very reasonable prcie. You get what you pay for. I paid only $50, so never expect a flash sea view room.

We stayed here our first two nights in New Zealand. We got a great price and are on a budget. The room was clean but admittedly the hotel itself could do with a renovation job. I don't have anything bad to say about the hotel as we had a lovely stay. It was quiet and clean and we didn't have any problems.
You do get what you pay for and like I said we had a cheap price. Parking is the pits...I wouldn't recommend staying here if you have a car. It is a step above a hostel and is close enough to walk into town. The bed was dead comfy and we had quite neighbours. But BEWARE...the walls are thin so if you end up with noisy neighbours, it could ruin your stay. All in all...it is a good budget hotel and we would definatly recommend it.
PS. The irish bar on the sixth floor is very friendly and the bar man was very helpful. Cheers!

I was tempted to write this comments upon looking at all the reviews on this particular hotel as i myself had a really bad experience with management of this hotel that i cut short my stay!
I checked in at this hotel and immediately noticed a ""show off" person, who keep interupting our conversation with a staff at the reception(without being asked)and showed no manners at all and to my disbelief was to be the manager of this hotel!I was explaining and asking the reception if i could get any refund at all as i wanted to stay only a day of my five day booking which by the way was charged upon booking last three months ago.My advised to the owners of this hotel, before hiring such people, know their background, some people are not cut to a certain type of job even though how they would like to think they are but they're not, get thim to take some proper management courses to inject some professionalism in his person! In short our converstion was cut short by a NO answer by this horrible uneducated looking supposed to be manager! The reason why i would like to cancel my booking was because i feel i was misled by the hotel's website presentation which is clearly not true at all,so my advise to all be careful with this hotel esp. the management and avoid getting rip off!
