I'm trying to organize my words to describe the details of this place.
1. Price: It is a cheap hostel, yes, about NZD81/night during my stay in the central Auckland for a tiny box room. But cheap does not mean its worth. Wifi plus 3-4 dollars per day (can't remember the exact price).
2. Comfort: First part is noise. The night bar is directly sitting down stair. It normally keeps running until around 2 am (yes, pls note that ppl will keep laughing until midnight). The guests definitely can hear the noise and sleep worse. Well, if you are a nightbird and party animal then maybe you could adapt to. Then, room is sort of dirty, I saw some stain on the sheet and cover. No air-con in the building and it was really stuff and muggy in March (I couldn't imagine how did people live there during summer). The bed was uncomfortable and old, felt like the furniture were collected from Inorganic Collections.
3. Servies: Reception has some friendly staffs who work hard from day to night. No towel and any cloth to be provided as they trying to avoid stolen (hard to imagine people stole towels). oh BTW, I spend 3 nights there and couldn't sleep well during the night. Once I took a sleep nakedly (because it was muggy) in the afternoon while a cleaner came in with a quick knock and said sorry. Fortunately, I was covered.
4. Location: The location is good, central Auckland, 2-3 mins walking to wharf and Britomart. Surrounding by restaurants and other businesses.
The end, I wouldn't recommend people stay there for business and relax because you have to take enough rest and sleep to effort your work or life. The noise and comfort are both poor. On the other hand, this place may be good for some short stays for concerts or transferring with a lack of budget.
