4 of us stayed in a triple room (1 double bed, 2 singles) for 1 night. Room was small but rate was very affordable and location was excellent--just a block from the Sky Tower and around the corner from restaurants and a great food court with tons of Asian food options. Parking available (for a fee) next door in the Crowne Plaza building.

I picked this hotel as it so central and that you cannot fault. The receptionist and reception decor was very good. Sadly the standard room reminded me of a mobile home with the feeling of cardboard walls, alluminum windows and small bathroom. The bed was poor to average and with traffic noise, we faced onto Albert Street.
We had booked (and paid for) this same hotel for our last night in NZ but went elsewhere. Auckland is fun and thankfully only minimal time spent in room.

Nothing special about this hotel, except the location. I stayed in 3 different rooms at various times - 2 of the tiny rooms on the top floor, and one of the bigger twin rooms. I actually preferred the tiny room (I was travelling on my own) because it was possible to open the windows (the twin room relied on aircon, which was hopeless). Hotel breakfast was good.

The City Central Hotel (corner of Wellesley & Albert St) was the worst hotel we stayed in during our 3 week trip in New Zealand. The rooms were dirty and the bathroom unhygienic. Cold water dripped from the air con on to your head when you tried to have a shower and the dust was layered thick on the blinds. One of our windows had a lump of chewing gum stuck to it and the other window wouldn't shut so we had a permanent draft. There were also some suspicious stains on the carpet so the socks didn't come off that night!
The only plus point was the central location though it is near the hospital so prepare yourself for a noisy night, especially if your windows don't shut!
Incidentally, we stayed in some lovely places in New Zealand - some of which were incredibly cheap as well as being very clean. Just not this place.

This hotel is at the city center, the sky tower is just one street behind, the department store is at the door step, it was really convenient. The staffs were very nice and helpful. Everything was great. The room was small but it doesn't matter as we just stay for one night only, the whole environment was comfortable. The only one thing I can criticize was the bed, it was too soft. Generally, this hotel is above average!

9 of us stayed at this hotel at the end of October for a combination of business and pleasure.

The rooms we had were tiny! 2 of our party were travelling as a couple and they found the room extremely tight.

The staff however were amazingly helpful. One woman in particular bent over backwards to help us fax important documents and let us use the conference room FREE of charge for a couple of hours! We really appreciated that! I also noticed the friendly staff dealing with lots of tourists and they were extremely helpful.

The hotel is in a fairly good location. Unfortunately if you are travelling with a vehicle (Like I was) you have to pay for overnight and/or casual parking with the adjacent hotel next door, This cost me $8 a night and you could only enter and leave the car park building once.

I would stay there again if I was desperate but the parking was a huge issue for me.
