My wife and I visited there, yesterday evening at 7.45pm, using a GrabOne voucher. We ordered steakburger and double-beef burger, together with a single order of battered snapper-and-chips. After reading a few indifferent reviews of this establishment, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The upshot after our dine-in experience, is that their food is very, very good. We'd go back there in a heartbeat. What we really appreciate about this place, is that sachet condiments are freely available as with the tomato sauce. You do have to pay for a small tub of specialty sauce but that's to be expected. A nice touch of Kiwiana, is that they have disposable wooden knives-and-forks available.

The batter of the fish was light 'n' crunchy and -- most importantly -- the fish was very fresh. One thing that every customer should be aware of is: once in awhile every restaurant will have a slightly off-day. It's to be expected, whether it be top-end dining or the humble takeout. Kiwiana delivered in a way that left us leaving very satisfied as to the service, food and extras; and we enjoyed the relaxed rustic ambiance of the place. Well done, guys!

Note: For those who complain about soggy chips and batter, it's always best to unwrap the food asap, so as the steam doesn't degrade the crispy-ness.

What we felt like was fish and chips. We ended up with venison burgers, it was too good an opportunity to resist! A "small" scoop of chips was enough for 2 people with our burgers, but we also ordered a "half barrel" of kumara chips with garlic butter. Boy, that lil punnet on the counter was decieving, it was filled to overflowing in a paper bag and turns out the punnet was mostly there to contain the masses of dripping galicy goodness!
The restaurant's theme really is kiwiana, complete with Footrot Flats framed prints and recent NZ music playing in the background. Eating in means unwrapping your meal on the wool-bailer-style tables, and don't forget your L&P or "longest drink" milkshake.
It was only a block from our motel. During a 3 day (2 night) trip, we ordered from Kiwiana twice!
Added bonus, it's a chippie that'd deliver! Advertising is up for franchisers, if this came to wellington it'd give our recently lamented Fish Boys a run for the money.
