“brilliant ambience”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

We dined with friends here on a sunny Sunday after the crazy Santa Parade crowed had dispersed.
We were taken in by the superb decor of the bar, very rustic in a New Orleans kind of way, we found ourselves taking out our phones taking photos of everything, music was excellent too, not too intrusive and later in the evening a Jazz band assembled.
The food was served very quick and was delicious and reasonably priced along with drinks. The staff were very friendly.
Over all a great experience and we will most certainly return again soon.

“Lovely American tapas style food in vibrant Orleans”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

Went Friday evening for a drink and a lite bite to eat. The American style tapas menu is lovely and lots of little dishes can be shared with friends. The steak dish is especially nice. Althought we couldn't book a table we managed to get two stools at the end of a table. The staff are friendly and the food was served very quickly after our order was taken despite it being very very busy. A band were playing and it had a great vibe. Mixed age group which was nice. Only thing is outside you are next to smokers so that can be a slight put off when you are eating.

“Wow cool place”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

Visited here on a Saturday for lunch.

Very authentic Southern style food, good value and a great waiter, a young fellow from Canada, very professional and helpful.

Jambalaya Balls were supreme, Rice n beans was authentic.

Overall will be back - soon

“Delicious dinner, great vibe!”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

This place fills up fast, make sure you arrive early to secure a table if you are planning on going for dinner. Tucked down a side street in Britomart precinct (where A&M was previously), everything about this restaurant is designed to transport you to the other side of the world. A lot of thought and effort has gone into the décor - from the window frames to the cobble-stoned outdoor bar area. The staff attire and live music also adds to the southern feel.

The food menu is reasonably small, but is well priced and everything we ordered was very good. The pork po boy deserves a special mention - yum. Service was prompt and so was the food - even though it was packed all the food arrived relatively quickly. The cocktails were a bit of a let down (perhaps they were just rushed), for example the Sazerac at $15 a pop just tasted like a cup of Angostura bitters.

But overall I'd be more than happy to return! Definitely worth a try.

“A great addition to Britomart!”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

Another addition to the burgeoning Britomart area, Orleans is a must-dine location to add to your list. Nestled in Roukai Lane off Customs Street East, the venue feels like stumbling upon a hidden gem. Inspired by its namesake, New Orleans, you’re quickly spirited away into this finely tuned setting with dark woods, rustic window frames, big band music, and wait staff in cohesive – yet individual – dress. The ambience hits the mark!

The menu is filled with Southern-inspired dishes (think buttermilk fried chicken, creole curly fries, gumbo, grits, po boys) leaving you in a state of indecision. Luckily for me, I dined with a group of friends, and we spent the night ordering multiple times from the menu and divvying up the goods. We ended the night on a perfectly portioned pecan pie with bourbon ice cream. Delish!

As you can tell, my experience at Orleans was a positive one, and I’ll definitely be back again with my partner to take advantage of the many gluten free options and the live music.
