Braemar on Parliament Street B&B Auckland
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 10 June 2014

Choosing a place to stay in Auckland seemed like it would be a dificult task. We wanted to stay in a Bed and Breakfast in an area that allowed us to walk to the water front and see several of the museums. We also needed to be a short taxi ride to the Skytower.
Braemar on Parliament was the perfect solution.

John our host was very helpful and suggested that we get the Supershuttle from the airport to Braemar.
We arrived late morning and were able check in, take a shower and then head off to see the sights.

We stayed in the Victorian Room and it was quite large and lovely. All the antiques in the room and the Inn were beautiful.
When we came back from our adventure on the town, John offered us a glass of wine and we learned so much about the house and Auckland. He also suggest a lovely spot for dinner.

The Inn is located on a quiet side street very close to all the activity yet very quiet.
We had to leave very early the next morning and he provided us a very early breakfast. It was excellent.

We will definitely stay there again when we return to Auckland.

Thank's for the review, glad you enjoyed your stay with us. I've always felt that being the " unhotel " is why we attract interesting people like you, Marta and Kicab. Helping guests discover the special things Auckland has to offer is one of the joys of running this B & B here in my home town. Cheers from John and Mel.

What a great little find...we had been in Auckland for 2 nights and needed to extend. Unfortunatly or fortunatly the hotel could not accommodate us for a further night. after a little searching we came upon Braemar on Parliament. We quickly snapped up the last available room and found it to be within 400 metres of the hotel....didnt even have to move our car out of the Hotel carpark. On arrival at Braemar we were warmly welcomed by John, and personally felt we had known this man for years .. after a moment to settle in we joined another guest and John for a wine and a meet ..There is alot about this house in regards to history and it has been lovingly restored by John and family.....a credit to them all.

A good night sleep and a lovely cooked breakfast made our 12 hour stay enjoyable.

Thoroughly recommend if you are looking for some place close in town..ideally situated to Vector Arena and only a $10 taxi ride from the Viaduct.

I would like to think we may stay again later in the year.

Room Tip: Having your own ensuite is the bonus.

John was such a friendly and helpful host! He went out of his way to make our stay more enjoyable. We walked to the ferry for Rangitoto. Breakfast was yummy and the room so quiet! We had never stayed in a bed and breakfast before so it was a real delight!

My wife and I stayed at Braemer to finish off our 5 week trip in New Zealand and we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. We are often staying in top class hotels and this was one of the nicest places we have chosen with history to it. We stayed for 2 nights and now Braemer feels like a second home. This was also due to John and Mel as they put every effort into ensuring our stay was great and were very helpful and are literally the best hosts ever. We will definitely be back again. It is a great location as it is in walking distance to the lovely gardens, sky tower and ferry terminal to go to the great islands. Make sure you look at the renovation photos over a cup of tea or coffee. Looking forward to returning on business. Make sure you stay here otherwise you are missing out. Cyrus and Michelle Dickie

We had an amazing experience at Braemar Bed and Breakfast. our large family of 8 was well and truly looked after by John and Mel. This is our third stay and definitely not our last. Staying at Braemar has ruined any chance of us staying at a hotel when we're in Auckland, you cant beat the fabulous restored Victorian type home that John warmly makes you feel as if you were in your own home. Great hosts, great environment, great price! Happily recommend.

Dan Cowden and family

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at Braemar. 5-7 min walk to CBD, and close to parks. John and Mel were very helpful in suggesting spots to view the fireworks for New Year's Eve, as well as with information about the surrounding islands and ferry rides. Generous breakfasts.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room with shared bathroom - no complaints.
