Popped in for lunch with a visitor from England after reading good things about Al's. It was a sunny Saturday about lunchtime and the place was busy. First impressions were great. Warm and chatty welcome from the staff, food in the cabinets looked fresh and delicious (especially the sweet things) and a table in the corner where we spent some time trying to decide what to order from the menu. Difficult because everything sounded good. In the end we ordered a hot dog and burger from the specials menu, a sandwich, poutine and a vanilla milk shake. It was all delicious but the stand out was poutine (hand cut fries with home made cheese curds and thick tasty gravy). You must try it.
We didn't have room to try any of the pies, tarts or cakes all made on the premises but we'll be back.
