“Excellent Value and Modern Rooms”
Reviewed 3 March 2011

The staff upgraded me from a one bedroom to a two bedroom upon check-in which made the value of the place even better. I traveled with my daughter and we both thought the rooms were impressively modern, clean and well appointed. It had everything, even a washer/dryer, microwave, internet access, kitchen, TV, ipod charger. The room also came with a small breakfast which they deliver to the room everyday. Although the location was convenient to town, you do have to walk past the Mission and a few drunks and street people who eat there, but I never felt unsafe or threatened. Great value and a great stay.

Hi Vatuvia

Thank you for your feedback, I do appreciate your comments and look forward to welcoming you back.

One comment I would like to make is as you mention the Auckland City Mission is about 7 minutes walk down Hobson Street. This is a government initiative and is out of our control. We in fact support this initiative by often donating old TV's, furniture and so forth when the opportunity arrises.

We have had no problems in the past with the Auckland City Mission as they are at least 500 yards away from us. As you had mentioned, it did not detract from your experience and hope this is the same for others.

Funnily enough, we are located right next to the Central Auckland Police Station so guests in fact say our property is the safest place in Auckland to stay...the reality is that we in downtown Auckland and it is what it is.

Again, I look forward to welcoming you back and thank you for your positive comments.

Kind Regards

The location was close to the centre but bare in mind it's up a very big hill! Also there is a homeless shelter which unfortunately had many people hanging around outside just down the road. This is easily avoidable by walking down the next street though, the more direct route to town. The rooms were very clean and ample space with a living area and a bedroom. The price for a single person is maybe slightly too much but the more people staying the better the price gets. It has lots of facilites in the room including cooker, fridge and washing machine (even in the smaller apartments). The breakfast included is minimal to say the least. 2 slices of bread and a small amount of cereal (bran, yuk!). Better off going to a cheap cafe down the road. This is ideal for a family with older children and teenagers as has several bedrooms in one apartment.

Hi Louiseforrest

Thank you for your feedback, I do appreciate your comments and look forward to welcoming you back.

As with the review above, I would like to make the comments below about the City Mission.

Auckland City Mission is about 7 minutes walk down Hobson Street. This is a government initiative and is out of our control. We in fact support this initiative by often donating old TV's, furniture and so forth when the opportunity arrises.

We are located right next to the Central Auckland Police Station so guests in fact say our property is the safest place in Auckland to stay...the reality is that we in downtown Auckland and it is what it is.

Our breakfast is a light continental breakfast which has break, milk, cereal, juice, spreads along with Tea and Coffee that is replenished on a daily basis.

Again, I look forward to welcoming you back and thank you for your positive comments.

Kind Regards

Being a mere 5 minute walk from Sky City and about 7 from Queen Street City Oaks is superbly located. I stayed in an executive apartment and with air conditioning, full kitchen, microwave, large balcony, laundry, widescreen TV, Sky, dvd player, two tables and comfortable couches and beds it's hard to suggest what could be added. City Oaks is an ideal location for pretty much whatever purpose you have in Auckland City or beyond. Everything is right there. If you have a vehicle it can be parked in the basement of the hotel and the lifts got right to your floor. Highly recommended. I will stay again without doubt.

This is a great place, and a really good deal for the price. We stayed in two different hotels when flying in and out of Auckland and I really wish we had stayed at the City Oaks both times. The location is great and only a short walk from pretty much everything you would want to go to. The kitchenette, free laundry and internet access were an added plus - and they even upgraded us to a bigger suite, just because.

I had read a number of reviews complaining about the shelter down the street but I can honestly say that we felt perfectly safe during our stay, even late at night. I would definitely recommend this place - especially to anyone on a budget looking for a good deal.

We arrived there from Fiji late in the evening. The check in goes very fast, the room was just big and modern. We even had juice and milk and cereal in the room. Nice and calm, kind people, we would definitely go there again anytime. There is nothing negative to say. Free internet in the lobby, water as well, awesome!

The hotel is in a good location, far enough from the busy part of the city, however close enough to walk to all the attractions and have a good day out!
The room was clean and had all the amenities I could wish for, including washer/dryer and dishwasher. The room is very contemporary with flat screen TV and DVD player, however one of the things that we didn't like in the room was the wall segragating the bedroom from the living room which obstructed the tv and it was difficult to watch it from there, but too close to watch it from the sofa...(small issue since we spent most of our time out of the room).
While the hotel is rather in a quiet part of the city, for light sleepers like myself the windows didn't stop the noise that occasionaly came from the street.
The phone and internet charges were also excessive, and parking was additional charge per night.
Nonetheless, our stay was nice, staff was very helpful and accomodating, and we really enjoyed ourselves.
