The room was impeccable, the food divine, wine even better and all so reasonably priced. Staff all friendly and very helpful...The view was amazing from my floor (17th) and I would definitely stay here again :)

I have stayed at the Quadrant each time I visit AKL (annually) for the last 3yrs and it has had ownership changes but the standard is still high and the staff are always really friendly and super helpful! This time (obviously with the ownership change) it appears that the "target customer demographic" seems to have altered and one could have been excused for thinking that one was on the Indian subcontinent and not in NZ!
Some people (European and other) do not seem to know how to behave outside of their communities - certainly evident by the Indian gentleman bellowing into his mobile phone as he walked up and down the corridor outside my room ... which continued later on in the night with other members of his entourage carrying on at 2am shouting as doors opened and closed and people came and went!
WIFI IS TERRIBLE ... has not improved even after 3 yrs and the excuse "other people are using it" really doesn't cut it as one can log in at the Airport and get better service with thousands of people accessing at the same time!
The rooms ARE on the small side and bathrooms ARE on the small side but still are great value for money and very clean ... however some of the attention to aesthetics (silk bed drapes and really toiletries) have gone which is a real pity!
The restaurant and room service menu could do with a bit of rethinking to make it a bit more interesting and offer more variety and to be less lacklustre than it is at present.
Valet parking is GREAT and good value for money.
Would I return to the Quadrant? In all honesty I don't know ... I'll be looking at other options and comparing what's on offer! The staff have to be what pulls the Quadrant over the line for me ... they deserve recognition for the service they provide and I hope they are both rewarded and given incentive by management!

Room Tip: If your room is not what you expected say something PRONTO!

The staff at this place is great and it's really central - close to the tower which you have to see! But the bathroom was so tiny it's claustrophobic and the room was not that big either. We stayed in the studio apartment and had a washing maching and small kitchen which was really useful as we were travelling all over NZ. Plus tea and coffee and all the regular stuff that you expect - all in all I would stay there again however I would make sure that I book a room with a bigger bathroom (if they have one) as seriously, someone above a certain weight would have problems fitting into that room!

Room Tip: Make sure the bathroom is bigger than a cardboard box!

I stayed at The Quadrant while working in Auckland and overall my experience was fine, due mostly to the lovely staff, but the room wasn't up to scratch.

The rooms are quite small but not uncomfortable, the television reception leaves a little to be desired (why is it so grainy in the middle of the city?), but the worst thing was the bathroom. It's very, very little and as soon as we checked into our room we noticed the smell which lingered for the whole 4 nights of our stay, even after room service. We took to keeping the door permanently closed to avoid the smell filling the whole room. There's no window or fan in the bathroom, which I think is necessary, but I'd recommend in these types of bathrooms without ventilation that there at least be a spray to mask the smell, if only temporarily. The room also seemed quite loud at night, I'm not sure if it was just the soundproofing in our room, but I could hear people walking above and a television down the hall.

The staff are lovely though, we had great experiences with everyone there! They were very helpful and friendly, which is all you can ask for. And the location is quite good - it gave easy access to the city centre and also very easy access to the southern motorway which I needed to use to get to work.

Booking in was fine, but room & especially the bathroom was tiny. No comfortable chair to relax in, just a plastic dining chair. Breakfast late both days I stayed there and on day 2 when I called reception to query when my pre-ordered breakie would turn up, the person on the phone insisted that they didn't do room service! Parking was expensive.
Recommend to not get a room next to the car park ramp as very noisy day & night.

Dear Diver201,

Thank you for your review. I appreciate your honest comments. I am unsure why a staff member mentioned that we do not have room service when in fact we have a 24 hour bar and restaurant that does breakfast, lunch, dinner and room service. None the less this is a customer service issue that needs to be addressed. I thank you for bringing it to my attention.

I apologise that the stay did not live up to your expectations, The Quadrant is a great property and I hope that you will give it another try next time in AKL.

Take care and safe travels.

Udai Sarin

they claim internet works. Sometimes it did, but on most times, it didn't. Very annoying. it is close to the city so convenient. Rooms very small though and the bathroom was very small. But beds were relatively nice. Views were pretty good too. Service depends on who you get. Some front service staff were great. Two staff members (lasy with a French accent and another lady with a European accent) were not so good. Not helpful and did not seem to like responsibility when questioned particularly in regards to so-called free internet, which should be working as is advertised. Staff member Chanel was great though - very helpful and displayed a duty of care for customers.

This is a funky little boutique hotel, which offers excellent value for money. The location is pretty good, and is walking distance to most of the major sites in Auckland. Note that the hotel is at the top of a steep hill however, so this could cause problems for older people.

The rooms were decent, clean and reasonably well appointed. The fully fitted kitchen, including a washing machine, was a great help and can definitely be a boon for travelers on a budget who want to cook at home. The free WiFi is a nice touch. In general, the hotel has a really cool vibe to it. Service was fast and efficient.

If I had one concern about my week's stay, it would be space. The whole hotel feels crammed together. For example, the size of the rooms - especially the bathrooms - was definitely on the small side (you can't get two people in the bathroom standing next to each other). The 'gym' was one smallish room with a treadmill and cross trainer. The spa was equally tiny, as was the bar and restaurant.

Nevertheless, for the price - £40 per day - this was great value and while space it tight, the management have tried to make up for it by packing so many useful things in!

Room Tip: Space is tight, so pay for a larger room if that's a big concern for you.
