This place rocks. We were going to a concert at a nearby venue and figured it would be so much easier and a lot more fun to stay in town. The Quadrant is perfect - extremely affordable and so funky! The staff are awesome - really friendly in a very relaxed way, but they certianly don't miss a thing. Our room was awesome - everything you need, and nice and clean. We had a pre-concert drink in the bar - the cocktail list is awesome... go the vodka cocktails! Make sure you check out the private area in the bar too - very cool. The next morning we headed back down for breakie - fantastic coffee and great food - just like a Ponsonby Road cafe... but better! We're already planning our next excuse to stay there... with such affordable rates and such a wonderful experience you can't go wrong. Congrats to all the team at the hotel - you've done a great job, and your service is the best. See you again soon!

These apartments are lovely and in an excellent location. The only down side is that they are very compact. But they have everything you
require and are very clean and the staff are helpful

I booked my accommodation via The Quadrant website, so easy to book, prompt confirmation to my email (they have an option for txt confirmation to your mobile as well) and lots of information about the hotel. Love the website background music too ! When we arrived, we had a warm welcome by the concierge follow with the friendly receptionist to help us to check-in. After we checked in to our one bedroom apartment, the room was nice, clean and have a great harbour view too ! The bed was so comfortable too ! They have DVD player, kitchen facilities, Sky channels in the room. Next day morning, we had a great breakfast in the Quad Kitchen and the service was fantastic. I called around 10:30am and ask for the late check out if possible and the friendly reservation staff offered us to have a late check out until noon for free (their normal check out is time is 11am) ! Overall the services from The Quadrant were perfect and highly recommend to everyone ! Remember check out The Quadrant website [--] for the great room deal.

The Quadrant is a good bargain in Auckland. We got a clean, well-decorated modern studio apartment within easy walking distance to central Auckland. Considering we paid about the same amount of money to stay in some older, smaller and more run-down properties during our travels throughout NZ, we felt like we hit the jackpot. Some of the front desk staff take themselves a little seriously (I think my husband compared them to the models in Zoolander) but they were perfectly helpful. There's a cute lobby bar that's a good place for a nightcap ... we closed down the place talking to some of the longer-term residents there who were a lot of fun.

The Quadrant is located close to Auckland University and within a 10 minute walk of the Auckland CBD and the ferry terminal. The hotel is quite new and offers great value. My wife and I stayed in a studio room that featured a fully equipped, eat-in kitchen - microwave, dishwasher, fridge, dishes, flatware, etc attached to a bedroom with views of Auckland harbor. Though the room was small, it did not feel tight or uncomfortable. The hotel has a young, hip feel and despite its low price and popularity with twentysomethings, it is not at all noisy or boisterous - we stayed on a Friday night. There is a parking garage located next door at the Hyatt, if you do not want to use the hotel's valet service.

The Quadrant certainly has some pluses and minuses.

On the plus side is a great location relative the university. It is also not too far from Queens Street and a great variety of restaurants and bars. The staff are young and friendly but professional. The hotel does have a sense of style. Videos in the elevator add to this sense. And our views from the 20th floor (the main entry is called the 6th floor, so perhaps 14th floor would be more accurate) were wonderful: great, direct view of the harbor.

On the minus side, the "two bedroom suite" was absolutely tiny. It was really something that might work as a smallish one-bedroom, but it then had about half of the "living room" partitioned off into the second bedroom. Certainly having three of us in that space was far too crowded to be comfortable. And while they have balconies, it is too narrow for any chairs or anything on them.

One final plus: a very reasonable price. Overall, I would most likely
stay here again only if I was a single traveler in a one-bedroom. Anything more, and I would look for something with more space.

The Quadrant is a modern hotel in a very good Auckland location right next to the Hyatt. It is located on a small hilltop, opposite to Auckland university and its parks, and within easy walking distance (5-10 min) from Queen Street and all other main attractions.

Due to the recent opening in 2006 rooms are very modern, clean and nicely furnished, yet not very big. The building itself is rather squeezed in between the Hyatt and another residential building. As a consequence, most rooms will NOT have direct harbour view (if not leaning over the balcony edge). Some rooms (mostly the studios) will on the contrary directly face the other building so that you will be easily able to check on other peoples dinner with their window being only a mere 3 metres away.

Audience and atmosphere is rather youngish. If you like loud pop / house music also at reception and in the lifts this is your place. There are also quite a few permanent residents / long-term guests as the place is more serviced apartments rather than a hotel.

Staff service was uninterested at most. They would certainly not go a long way to help you, for example with questions regarding the whereabouts in the city. On our request we got the well meaning advice: "There's Queens Street and there's the harbour and that's about it" :-)

The breakfast can be taken on some chairs in a darkish hallway just outside the lifts. I guess the food is rather good, however wouldn't bother as there are quite a few and much nicer coffee shops and places just outside on the way down to Queen Street.

All in all the Quadrant to me felt more like a converted student dormitory or an upmarket backpackers rather than a hotel. This may be fine if you're travelling for leisure, however I would definetely NOT recommend the place for business travelers. Looking in faces of the few business people I saw during my stay I would say that they shared my opinion :-)

The value for money is certainly good, I would however not stay there again.
