Thoroughly enjoyed staying here with the big xmas tree in the foyer so beautiful. Great service including romantic package. Loved dining in the Orbit revolving restaurant - great view and food. Room service breakfast was so good and staff so helpful. They allowed us to leave our car there after checking out for about 4 hours free of charge, much appreciated.

We arrived on Thursday evening from Sydney only to be pleasantly surprised with both the size and cleanliness of this hotel. Its huge - has everything you could want including great rooms. We checked in effortlessly, changed in the room and went out for dinner on the concierge's recommendation. Fell asleep in the oversized king bed with nice linens around 1:00 a.m.

Six hours later, at 07:12 a.m. somehow hammering had crept into my dream - hammering! How was this happening? Suddenly the hammering turned into what can only be described as a jack hammer directly above the bed. We both were rudely awakened and called down to the hotel manager, Greg.

Greg was fantastic. He couldn't stop the construction but he did refund our money completely for the nights stay. You see, only on tiny little signs posted in the lobby does it say that the pool is being removed from the 4th floor. We, of course were booked on the 3rd floor.

Moral of the story is yes, stay at the SkyCity Hotel, its great. But be sure you request a room on the 1st or 2nd hotel floors. Hopefully this nice hotel will have their pool back shortly. In the meantime you can use the pool at the hotel across the footbridge. Oh yeah, be sure to say hi to Greg for us!

Stayed 1 night only on NZ long weekend so did not encounter any issues with noise, but was advised by check in staff that the hotel was undergoing renovations.

Convenient location to visit the harbour for the fireworks and to visit Auckland Museum.

Twin bed room was roomy, clean and comfortable. Conceirge staff were excellent with valet parking and information. Check in and out staff good but they need to put a smile on their face and show a bit more interest in who they are serving

I stayed at this hotel in January for 6 nights and booked due to the outdoor pool. However, on my visit, the pool was being removed and the resulting building works were so noisy that i was woken on several occasions at 7:30 in the morning...and they continued all day.....the hotel did not inform me of either of these events prior to arrival....stay anywhere but here if you want sleep, and if you want an outdoor pool go to the Hilton!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback.

SKYCITY has commenced adding some exciting additions to our property to be completed prior to Rugby World Cup, which has resulted in the pool closure. Whilst there will be some noise, the worst of it will be over by end of February. We are doing all we can to minimise any impact to our guests. In addition, we have placed notices of Hotel redevelopment on our website, in our hotel reservation email confirmation and on the reception desk.

We look forward to welcome you again to experience the new SKYCITY additions where we will be able to meet, if not exceed, your expectations.

As it's my mother's 50th my aunty and i decide to take her to Auckland to see the horse show that was on and since none of us have been to skycity we thought we would make a weekend of it, With booking made we get to skycity, at reception we find that what we had booked wasn't showing up on their system we had rang to change our booking for free parking instead of the Breakfast but seems it had not been done.

The man at reception in my opinion was unprofessional while he was on the phone dealing with our booking his cell phone went off and he was replying to a txt he had received and lost track of what he was ment to be doing.

We get our room keys and off to the elevator we go to get to our room we needed the help of a cleaner who had happened to be near by to show us how to get the elevator to work as no one at reception had told us.

The room was tiny, the bathroom tiles had mold over them and the floor was filthy.

This is meant to be a 5 star hotel i would rate it as a 3 star even then you could do better going else where especially with what they charge in rates you certainly dont get what you pay for there a better hotels around then Skycity !!

As for the staff most seem like they just dont like the job the are doing and aren't even worried about any complaint/s that you do make, all you get is a stiff smile and a polite we will follow it up but nothing comes of it.

We came up to celebrate a 50th birthday and thought, where better than Sky City Hotel? 5 star isn't it? Wrong. We were not allowed the package advertised on their website. Even though the room was available, it was a busy time, she said. And the problem with that was what, exactly? You advertise something, then as a corporate, you stand by it, don't you? Not Sky City. We had to pay full price. The room was muddled - the HOTEL was muddled; got booked in the Grand and then found out they had booked us in the hotel 'across the street." But were promised free valet car parking if we dropped the 'free breakfast'. Which we agreed to. And that was a tough talk to convince reception when we got there. That's ok, but we get up to our room - finally, no-one told us you had to use the room card; thanks to a cleaner who showed us what to do -and are shocked. Two beds, a TV, a small desk, a fridge packed full of expensive mini bar stuff and no room for our own milk (we'd figured they'd be stingy on that; they were, a 175ml container). And this is a "premium room"? With a solid view of the backside of the country's biggest sparkplug right in front of our only window. We also discovered that even though they knew there were three of us, there were only two mugs, one drinking glass and two lots of coffee. The bathroom tile grouting was disgusting and you really had to push the loo button two or three times to get it to flush at all.
Fine. We'd go out for dinner and drinks anyway. Except that no-one bothered to tell us at booking that the Sky Tower restaurants get busy and that we should have booked for a meal at the time we booked the room. Both restaurants were booked out. So, off down to the desk we went to find out what else was available. Fortuna Restaurant. Never go there. Even if they are the last cab off the rank. Filthy plates, stale buns, second grade shrimps (not prawns), a very limited buffet choice which often had empty pans waiting to be refilledand only asked once if we wanted a drink. And, to top it off, water glasses were removed after the first course, while we were getting the second and we had to ask for them to be replaced.
These guys should be ashamed - they are supposedly one of the best hotels in Auckland. If this is the best Auckland has to offer, then we'll stay home next time.

great if you want a wake up call without asking for it at 7am. Wake up call being continual construction noise from 7am. Loud banging and thumping which did not stop and we left room at 9am. Despite 2 calls to reception and one discussion with the manager staff seemed rather nonchalant to my complaints. They said notices were placed at reception- notices which said" we hope you will like our changes we are making", not notices to the effect of"brace yourself for earth moving banging and thumping from 7 am". If you are planning to stay and arrive late after a long flight and expect to sleep off jet lag...forget it, this is not for you. Overall very disappointed in staff's management of this issue. I cancelled my second nights stay because of it. Shame. If you have to stay here- check with staff if construction is complete.
