Never underestimate the Maple Room! We love and keep going back week after week as the confident knowledgeable staff always present us delightful food with fine wines to match. I love the tapas which is constantly evolving to keep us coming back!

Lunch specials on Thursdays and Fridays are brilliant - always deliciously scrumptious and never to heavy to do stuff in the afternoon.

On a cold winter's night, The Maple Room was cosy, nicely lit and very welcoming. Staff were friendly, whilst not obtrusive and very helpful with the dietary requirements of one of us.
The wine and meal service was well paced; efficient without either being rushed or feeling you were forgotten.
We started with a dishes from the "small bites" section of the menu, which is great for those of us without a big enough appetite for a full entrée as well as main. We had the grilled prawns and salt & pepper squid; both of which were well cooked. Our mains were the grilled eye fillet with croquettes and greens and the roast loin of lamb with beets and kumara rosti. The meats were exactly the rareness ordered and the accompaniments well matched. This is one of the attractions of this restaurant - not just any of a standard list of side dishes, but well thought out accompaniments to enhance the specific meat or fish. The fact that these are also included in the price makes for reasonable main course prices for the quality provided and the quite generous servings.
The dessert of spiced bread and butter pudding on raspberries with coconut icecream, with a delicious dessert wine was an excellent finish to our evening. Many thanks.
We are very lucky to be able to call The Maple Room our "local" and resolve to return soon.

This restaurant is local to us but we had not visited it before because we knew it was on the more expensive side and we tend to eat out at Mission Bay where the sea views are. The Maple Room is located in the middle of Auckland suburbia.
Many people have told us how lovely the restaurant is so we decided to try it for our wedding anniversary and we had a superb evening.
The food was delicious and beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and attentative with our wine being frequently topped up.
They have an extensive wine list - expect to pay at least $50 a bottle.

Having read the reviews on this site we were expecting something special. It is most definitely a watering hole for locals - all the outdoor tables were occupied by middle aged men drinking. Inside it was clearly a hangout for local couples. The menu looked inviting but we really weren't sure whether it was a Tapas bar or full service restaurant. The decor was bland, the atmosphere more that of a cafeteria.

We ordered our meals - I had the Duck and my friend had the Lamb. The blandness continued in the food - virtually no taste which was very disappointing. We were going to have desert as the selection on the menu sounded exciting but after the main course we decided against it.

A visit to the bathroom was a horror - the odour over-bearing and whilst you cannot predict what others will do - functioning ventillation would be a bare minimum -no such luck. The aerosol can of air freshener would indicate this is an ongoing issue.

We were there on a Wednesday night - perhaps this is the locals drinking night? Based on our experience we will not be back.

We decided to pop down for dinner last night, called at six thirty to book the table and were down there at seven. None of this "oh we are busy, I don't know if we can etc" which is pretty off putting to the customer, it was a "sure, looking forward to seeing you at seven". The cocktails are amazing, you must get one, they are served in a really tall glass but still difficult not to drink quickly, they are super refreshing. Shared plates are on offer for starters and they are all really good. The staples of chicken, duck, fish, lamp, beef and shellfish for mains but they are all pimped up to make you think you are in heaven at each bite. The service is great, my sister is a wine buff and she was very impressed how the young wait staff pitched their comments about the wine to her level showing nice confidence in their knowledge without isolating or intimidating their guests. The puddings which we shared were once again out of this world. The wine list is very well designed and thought through. You must go if you get an opportunity!
