“Nice place for lunch”
Reviewed 9 September 2012

This is a review for the Tasca in Newmarket (25 Nuffield Street) as we had lunch there on a nice Saturday afternoon. It is quite a nice place although parking is hard to find around Newmarket but this is nothing against this restaurant.

Service - Friendly service and attends to their customers' needs promptly. This is nice to see.

Food - The fries were amazing as is their aioli sauce. Their margharita pizza were okay, nothing special although the size were quite large. Their moorish egg dish was nice and tasty although not as much as I expected. Overall, decent meal. Their mocha was very nicely brewed and the chocolate brownie they serve with it was amazing!! Probably the best thing we had all afternoon.

Value - Good size meals and not very pricy so very good value.

Atmosphere - Nice decor and does give off a Spanish countryside feel to it.

Quite a nice place for lunch if you are around Newmarket area and want a decent place for lunch. I personally won't go out of the way for it but that's just me although my friends have been here quite regularly.

“Oh, the calamares”
Reviewed 27 August 2012

Sauteed calamari with a slight smoky taste, tender, juicy and just one of a dozen tapas worth eating. Menu also does pizza, pasta and main-sized versions of smaller dishes. Staff speak Spanish and are patient when I try my fledgling Spanish. Short-train ride or bus ride from central city to upmarket Newmarket.

The Big breakfast is brilliant-we used a voucher when we viited and my son had the French toast which was equally as good. Service was great!

“Good service if not quirky choice of music”
Reviewed 10 August 2012

Dropped in for lunch. Good service, interesting range of food and great atmosphere. Pumpkin soup is worth a try, chorizo not too hot, just right.

“Cute place, good service, average food”
Reviewed 29 July 2012

We were in Auckland CBD and about to make the drive back to Tauranga however wanted something to eat before our trip, and although it was around 4pm (awkward dining timing), we wanted 'real' food, not something from a food court. The place was cute and warm and one of the only places open and serving food at this time so it seemed a good choice. The service was like the atmosphere - warm and inviting, the food was bland and not really worth the price although the servings were large (we both had pasta's). The tapa's sounded tasty however we were after something a bit more substantial due to being in a bit of a hurry and having a long drive ahead so didn't bother with them. Would try again for coffee and tapa's but definitely not mains.
