Great location but two salient points indicate a complete lack of professionalism. One- the man in attendance, knew very little, and was unable to help us at all. Secondly, the state of their Mens toilets was disgusting. So a visit to gain information gave us a terrible impression , and a small map with the words "some may be open but I am not sure"

Needs work as this place must be representative of the local wineries

Great location right on the edge of the harbour so you can relax and enjoy the great wines and local cuisine in style and comfort.

I'd been in contact with the wine center prior to our cruise regarding the tour. After tendering in, the wine center was RIGHT where the tenders disembark. So, we went in and booked the tour and Marcus remembered us from the e-mails. Tour can accommodate eight persons. Van is not air conditioned. Driver is just a driver, not a guide. This was not a problem as the vineyards took the time with us to explain the various wines and a bit about the area.

The wineries we visited were all small boutique vineyards and were all quite different from one another. We really enjoyed a new variety for us (Arneis) at Matawhero. Good stuff, wish we could get it at home!! We were served a lovely antipasto plate outside in the shade at one of the wineries. The sample pours were actually quite generous compared to some tastings we've done. All in all, a good day!

We went here twice today, the first time we just got a map of the local wineries, the second time was to do some wine tastings after we ditched the car at our motel. When we got there it wasn't busy at all, we ordered a platter and two tastings. Our platter came after about 15 mins. After about 20 mins I asked after our tastings which they had forgotten about. It had gotten a bit busier at this point, and instead of pouring our tastings the waitress finally brought over one lot of tastings. She then continued to serve other people and make coffees so we had to line up again to get get our second lot of tastings. How busy they were didn't warrant how long we had to wait to get wine poured - we saw the waitress standing there polishing glasses while we were waiting. We were planning to spend the afternoon there tasting wines but left after that because the service was so bad

Lovely atmosphere. Good selection of yummy wines. People at the centre are helpful and friendly. Sometimes have live music which makes it especially good.
