Our stay was fantastic and one of the highlights of our road trip through the North Island. The place is amazing for a great sleep after a long drive up from Napier.
Thank you Kim and Glen for the wonderful hospitality, and Glen your morning coffees are magical.

We called Kim at the last minute to book a room, we arrived and were so happy with our choice. It is a beautiful home furnished with beautiful and interesting pieces of art. James jumped in the pool while I watched the final of the ASB Classic on the big screen TV located in the well stocked library. We sat out outside our room on comfy cape cod chairs and watched the clouds roll past over the sea and it felt like we were the only people left in the world until our hosts brought us a lovely cold glass of bubbles. We appreciated the small touches that made this a fabulous place to stay, the makeup remover wipes in the bathroom, the bath crystals if you wanted a bath, the chocolates and bottle of water next to the bed. The breakfast is fantastic, the coffee is great and the hosts Kim & Glen are really interesting multi dimensional people who are great to talk to. We are now recommending this to all of friends as a great place to stay while in Gisborne.

Room Tip: Go for the king room you won't be disappointed

Perched on the hills overlooking the wide coastal peninsula, this is a magnificent, quiet rural spot only 5 minutes from Gisborne's small city. Hosts Kim and Glen are friendly, generous and know the area intimately. Two generous bedrooms with en suites, well-separated from each other and the main part of the house, overlook rolling hills to the bay. The house is of beautiful modern architectural design. There's a small library/TV room for guest use and a brilliant infinity pool.

Breakfasts are splendid, with great use of local produce, and there are lots of dining options in Gisborne (as well as use of BBQ at the house on request, and takeaways close by).
Overall a wonderful spot to recharge, with surf beaches and wineries close by. On Kim and Glen's recommendation,we booked with a little local operation to wade out on the rocks and feed beautiful wild stingrays and kingfish by hand. Terrific.
Thank you Kim and Glen. Love your work!

You're reading this review, trying to figure out if this is the place for you. It seems a little pricey, and you're not sure if it's worth it. Stop reading and make your reservation already! This place is awesome in every way- stunning views, great pool and hot tub, super friendly and helpful hosts, and amazing cooking. There are lots of nice B&Bs in New Zealand, but this is the one you'll never forget. Make sure to ask Glen about his bees.

Hi, thank you Kim and Glen for looking after us so well on the first night of our honeymoon.
We were treated to a romantic 5 course meal when we arrived which Kim and Glen organised since there weren't any restaurants open on the night we arrived.
Thanks again.

It was great to be able to offer Scott and Joline a special in house dining experience. We were fortunate enough to have Stephan Dussau and Caroline Philp from The Marina Restaurant as our chef and maitre d' for the evening.
There were restaurants open but none that we felt were suitable for the occasion. We wanted Scott and Joline to have a special experience while they were on their honeymoon with us at Ridge House, in Gisborne.

We travelled to Gisborne with our friends for an annual weekend away somewhere in NZ. Accommodation, scenery and food are the highlights of our time spent away and Gisborne and Ridge House lived up to the expectation of this. Glenn and Kim were wonderful hosts and the rooms were spotless with wonderfully comfortable beds. The bathrooms were clean and new and had special touches such as flowers and yummy soft towels. The breakfast was amazing and we loved all the different meals we tried. Glenn and Kim were also wonderful at helping us to plan out what we should do with our days and answering questions about the local surroundings and history. They were very hospitable and nothing was too much trouble.

I had one night and left the next day fully refreshed and ready for my onward journey. Glen and Kim have a very special place here. The bed was like a cloud, the views spectacuklar and their hospitality top notch. I felt in the lap of luxury without the stiff formality of many five star establishments.
