Owner description: Explore an enchanting world of secret gardens. Transport yourself through time and to far-flung corners of the world. Meander through a lush tropical jungle, visit ancient China and indulge yourself in a Renaissance Prince's 16th century garden. Five garden collections have been created to delight the senses, with some garden concepts reaching back 4,000 years. Hamilton Gardens is a conceptual garden based in the Waikato that explores the context, history and meaning of gardens through time, and from around the world. It is internationally recognised for its unique concept and is the Waikato region's most popular tourist destination. Only five minutes drive from Hamilton's CBD, the Gardens is open 7 days a week during daylight hours and entry and parking is free. Access is off SH1, alongside Cobham Drive on the southern side of Hamilton.

“Very beautiful”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

Very well maintained even in the winter. Love to return when it's in full bloom. Loved all the work that has been put into the venue.

“One of the most beautiful places in the world”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

I have been to a great many places in my time but Hamilton Gardens has to make the top 10 list. The gardens are simply amazing and not just because of the pretty flowers or green trees. Numerous regions have been recreated in these gardens and will amazing accuracy, I truly felt as though I had stepped into a Japanese garden and traveled back in time to a tutor age tournament. Truly spectacular!

“Fantasic!”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

Well worth a visit no matter what time of year, however Summer would perhaps be the best time. Expected to spend an hour at this venue but stayed for about 3 hours enjoying all that we saw. Lots of fascinating gardens.

“Peaceful place”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

We spent three hours here looking at the different gardens, and didn't look at them all. They cover a wide range of styles and eras and are best enjoyed at a leasurely pace. Parking is free and during the week is fairly quiet.
