“Hot Air Ballons Festivals”
Reviewed 4 August 2011

We stayed here for a night to see the Hot Air Ballons Festivals.
Location of the hotel is perfect we just hopped onto the free shuttle to the festivals
Good deal with Accor Advantage Plus discount.
Breakfast was average
Check in staff efficient but pity about car park arrangements.

Absolutely brilliant stay until breakfast - staff couldn't cope with the numbers . Ran out of food, glasses, juice etc. Our room and dinner in the restaraunt was first class. Let down by our experience at breakfast

Dear Guest. Thanks for letting us know about your stay with us. We are fully aware that recently in the weekend, we had some problems in breakfast, for which I really apologize. We have discussed that particular weekend internally and have made changes. Best regards, Dick Breukink, General Manager

We stayed one night and found the hotel very clean, bright and tidy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We chose the Novotel because of the proximity to the casino and restuarants which are all close by.
My only gripe is the cost which was over $300 for a superior room. Admittedly it was Fieldays weekend so I guess they charge what the market will pay. The room was just a very nice average size room which looked over the river.
I would stay again however there are cheaper hotels within a block of this one.

Hi Felix, Thanks for placing comments on Tripadvisor about your stay with us. Appreciate your comments about the pricing, but as you already mentioned, hotel prices are based on supply and demand periods. Hope to have you stay with us again next year during Fieldays. Don't really have much to complain about. I find the valet parking abit annoying because I like to come and go with ease but the staff are really lovely. We did go to the bar for a drink and we cldnt believe it, they had no bourbon!?!?. Otherwise I'd definitely come back. It's already our second time there.

Room Tip: Ask for the superior room the views r much better

The staff were very friendly at check in but had my name completely wrong and rather than correct it, chose to use my travelling companion's details for the reservation. The room consisted of two double beds as we had requested but we noticed a difference in size in our colleagues' room which had the same bed configuration. They had a couch and table that allowed them a quite a bit more work space. I'm not sure if there was a difference in room rate (our rate $188) but there was a definite difference in room size.

The bed was comfortable but the pillows provided were a flat as pancakes. A pillow menu is provided but to be honest I could not be bothered ordering pillows late in the evening. Although the bed was comfortable, I had a disturbed sleep due to the traffic noise from the street. It is not as though Hamilton had a lot of traffic but it was enough to wake me every time a motorbike, truck, car or street cleaning machine went past. Oddly enough, there was absolutely no obvious noise from within the hotel such as banging doors or neighbouring occupiers. Perhaps thicker drapes or double glazing would solve the street noise problem.

The bathroom was clean and the toiletries sufficient. Plenty of choices for tea, coffee and hot chocolate as well as a good number of glasses and cups provided. There was a good size flat screen TV and an alarm clock with IPod dock. There are also port provided for internet access in the room.

Rather than dine in the hotel restaurant we asked reception for a restaurant recommendation. The hotel is centrally located so it was very easy to walk a few minutes down the road for a good selection of restaurants. We opted to have breakfast in the restaurant as we had a very early morning start. I was disappointed with the dining options. Toast and a hot drink was available at $11 and then the next option was a continental selection at $20. I would have much an a la carte option for just muesli, yoghurt and fruit.

If I was staying for pleasure, which I would be happy to return to Hamilton for, I would definitely stay in a room away from the street.

Dear Guest. Thanks for your extensive comments on your stay. We would like to let you know that we have installed double glazing in our street front rooms but will definately keep your comments in mind, if ever we will change the windows. I have shared your comments with my staff and will review those with them. Best regards, Dick Breukink, General Manager
