We checked into the Nautilus on a spur-of-the-moment visit to this beautiful provincial city and were pleased with the last minut accomodation choice that we made. The hotel is relatively new and fitted out to a reasonably high level of specification. It is immaculately clean and very comfortable. ROoms a a generous size. It is well located on the waterfront with good offstreet parking. They have a nice little restaurant if you can't be bothered visiting one of the restaurants nearby in the city. Best of all it won't break the bank.

What can i say about this motel other than we LOVE it! We love Hawkes Bay too but the truth is, we take weekend roadtrips to this region so we can stay at this motel.

Spacious with good furnishings. One of our fave thing to do in Hawkes Bay is shop at the local farmers market for organic fresh produce, cook in our room and dine alfresco style, out on the deck looking at the ocean. Then we take after dinner walks on the beach and when we go back to the room we enjoy a glass of Hawkes Bay Pinot in the jacuzzi.

this establishment offers great value for such high quality accommodation. 5 stars

While this is more of a motel than a hotel, it is a top of the line motel. Huge spa bath in the room, large room and comfortable bed.

Facilities included a small kitchen, we didn't use it but seemed to have all the appliances you would need.

Housekeeping were very keen to service the room early, knocking on the door a couple of times before 11am. But this is minor, and maybe we should have got up to enjoy the bay! Room very clean and tidy after that had been through.

Will stay again

One night stopover with family (wife and little boy) in August 2012. I chose the Nautilus based on price, TA reviews and facilities. A very nice hotel (1 bedroom with fold-out sofa in lounge) with huge spa bath in main bedroom. Very clean, comfortable, quite spacious and well-appointed. We didn't see much of the staff (due to our short stay) but what we did see was very friendly and helpful. I certainly think we could have been very comfortable for a few more days and would stay again.

A one night, mid week stay, booked through Wotif. We choose the hotel based on location and price. The room was very generous in size, and the quality of the furnishings etc was very high. Definitely a much better standard than I would have expected for the price.

The ground floor room was not far from the busy Marine Parade, but we had no problem with the very minimal traffic noise.

Carparking is not allocated per room, and the hotel was full with mid week business travelers, I can see why it would be a favourite. Staff were friendly and efficient, we didn't need anything from them, but the impression I received was they would certainly have been helpful.

Time constraints meant we didn't get to use the fantastic looking spa bath, but the large bathroom it self was to the same high standard as everything else.

10minute walk to the CBD for a great dinner, but thats another review ;)

Thanks Nautilus!

Room Tip: There are plenty of carparks, but they are unallocated. If you get a carpark, you may want to leave...

This is our second stay at The Nautilus and once again, we had a really enjoyable stay. The room was really comfortable, with great bathroom and kitchen facilities. The staff were really friendly and we would not hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended to all.

We booked this hotel for an interlude of luxury in the middle of a camper van tour and we weren’t disappointed. We had a studio room which was enormous, with both a huge separate bathroom and hot tub in the room. The TV was also big enough to watch from the tub on the other side of the room, which made for some very enjoyable rugby viewing!

Our room had a decent sized kitchenette which would have been very useful for a longer stay, and a balcony with a sea view which was brilliant for breakfast the next morning.

One warning – we found that restaurants in Napier closed pretty early (ie we basically couldn’t find dinner at 9.30pm). This is clearly not the hotel’s fault but is something you might want to be aware of when planning your day.
