This three storey complex of apartments is well situated on Napier's promenade, giving excellent sea views to most rooms. In view of previous reviewers comments about noise we asked for a quiet room, so were placed in a room overlooking the side street, so had a side-sea view only. So you have a choice of sea view + road noise, or less road noise and less of a sea view. Although there is no passenger lift, there is an antiquated, but functioning luggage lift; so disabled visitors must be careful to specify a room on the ground floor.

Whilst the outside is deceptively plain and functional, the rooms are of a really high quality. We had a one bed, executive suite, which was spacious, well-equipped showed good attention to detail and finish. There was a large circular spa bath integrated into the bedroom and a separate bathroom which featured a large shower. The kitchen area was equipped with a two-ring hob, microwave, toaster, a fridge, a good selection of minibar products, and an adequate selection of cutlery and crockery. There was also a safe discretely tucked away in a cupboard.

The reception staff are friendly and very helpful. Our only reservations were traffic noise from roads and railway and the Motel's restaurant, which we have reviewed separately.

We greatly enjoyed our stay here and would thoroughly recommend it to others.

Room Tip: In view of previous reviewers comments about noise we asked for a quiet room, so were placed in a ro...

I stayed here with my Mum and Dad whilst travelling down South. It was a lovely clean hotel in the perfect location. It is about a 10 minute walk into the town which you can do along the coast.

The view from the room is lovely and we had a decent balcony to sit and have a wine in the evening.

Room Tip: Ask for second floor so you get a better view.

We booked a couple of nights for a special birthday. It was fantastic. The room was spacious, very clean and had a large spa which had a terrific view. We cooked in the kitchen and had breakfast on the balcony as well as drinks in the afternoon watching the world go by. The sunrise view from the room was spectacular. Fabulous view overlooking the beach with norfolk pines to give you privacy. There was a playground over the road for children and we loved watching the children on their bikes and scooters in the road safety area designed to teach children road rules etc. Hotel is located easy walk to town, restaurants, cafes, bars and there is a walking path beside the beach for relaxing strolls. Pick of the hotels. Would definitely return and recommend to others.

Room Tip: We had 301 but I think any room on this level with a spa pool would be awesome. I liked this room c...

Only 5-10 minutes walk to the central area, this motel is located on the wonderful Marine Parade with uninterrupted views of the Bay. The rooms are spacious, have a large jacuzzi and a fully functional kitchenette.
You really wouldn't want any more in a motel. Excellent accommodation.

Room Tip: Rooms are a little noisy from road noise when doors to balcony are open.

We booked into the Nautilus for a couple of nights R&R from our campervan and could not have been happier. Big room, huge jacuzzi, clean, well-equipped kitchenette and a terrific view. Best part though was how accommodating the manager/owners were with our van. We did not want to leave it parked on the street and they went out of their way to ensure we had space in their parking lot each night. Highly recommend The Nautilus!

Room Tip: We asked to see a couple of rooms to decide what we wanted and this was no problem.

Beautiful clean room. It was spacious and we had a balcony giving us a good view of marine parade and the ocean. The reception staff were very helpful and could answer all our questions. The mini kitchen and contents was clean and easy to cook in. The motel is near everything you want to see in Napier. We particularly enjoyed our art deco tour of the town.......well worth doing. We also enjoyed doing the ahuriri walk with the aid of the details from the tourist information.
We would recommend the nautilus unreservedly.
