We stayed here with three adults and two children in a two bedroom unit. Two bedrooms (one with two single beds and the other with a queen bed) were upstairs plus a bathroom that had a toilet and bath. The other bed was a single, downstairs in the lounge. The bathroom downstairs was large and had a toilet, hand basin and shower. The kitchen was a good size too with a full sized fridge and microwave etc. The free use of the washing machine was really handy and the free wireless broadband was appreciated. The swimming pool was freezing so the kids didn't stay in long. That contrasted to the room which was hot hot hot with just an electric fan to cool it - no aircon. It was hard to sleep at night - it was so hot.
The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing was a problem - probably the friendliest people I've ever met running a motel.
Took about seven minutes to drive down to the Marine Parade and the nearest supermarket is about a four minute drive.

Room Tip: Recommend the two bedroom unit for a family - they are spacious so you aren't living on top of o...

Overall a good stay - i wouldn't say Very Good though due to the hairdryer incident which cost me some hair & the fright of my life!

There were a few things i loved about this place:

1 HEAPS of towels in our unit - more than enough, it was great
2 PROPER bedrooms - not squished up, spacious.
3 Nice furniture, modern & comfortable (except the double bed - not so much)
4 Super friendly lady at reception, she was lovely (blond lady, not sure on name)
5 Full size fridge/freezer in our room (although check the seals on it room 25)

A couple of things i didn't like were:

1 Didn't have the normal complimentary individual shampoo, conditioner & soaps - instead had big & not very good quality pump bottles to be shared from guest to guest (most of which were quite grimy & slimy around the top) Very drying hair wash.
2 Door was hard to lock, hard to unlock & just plain rickety.
3 Hair dryer was older than me! & ripped out some of my hair due to the safety top being broken off (this is not acceptable & i was SHOCKED this had not been replaced or at least removed) This was NOT safe to use, very, very old & a major hazard - it could have been MUCH, MUCH worse had i not been quick to turn it off. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS.
4 Pool was a bit dirty, lots of bits in it & murky looking.

Overall apart from the hair dryer incident we were satisfied with the actual stay but its hard to look past a burnt scalp & having your hair ripped out. I didn't want to take it out on the poor girl from reception but i was pissed off - what if my daughters had used the hair dryer?

Thank you for your review. Glad to hear all the lovely comments, but shocked to hear the hair dryer incident. Unfortunately this has never happened before (or since thankfully!) but when we begin renovating the two bedroom apartments we will certainly look at the set up of the hairdryers. As for the pool, we clean the pool every day over the summer months as we were away when you visited I cannot comment on weather conditions which obviously effect the condition of the pool.

Studio room was adequate. The bed was very comfortable after a 3 1/2 hr trip. Loved the Guestaurant. The food was awesome! We were made to feel very special as guests. Katie, the assistant manager is wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. There was secure parking at the back of our room for the Harley. We would certainly return.

Room Tip: Maybe a room further away from the main road would be quieter. Our end unit had opening windows abov...

We had a 2 bedroom unit for a couple of nights. Service was great (staff extremely friendly and very accommodating - awesome), unit was very clean and well equipped, and the motel is in a great location. We had a couple of very minor issues in our room which the staff sorted out for us right away. Shower was very average, clean, but seemed to be either hot or cold. Decor a bit dated, and the children's play area could do with updating. Otherwise, for a family stay with 3 young children it suited us quite well.

Thanks Julie for the lovely comments. We agreed with your comments on the children's play area and have now begun updating this. See our facebook page photos of the children's playhouse we have just built. We are planning to make a swing set alongside it soon.

We had a 2 bedroom unit for 3 nights. The unit was extremely spacious with comfortable furnishings. The kitchen was very well equipped. The price was very reasonable and the motel is in a handy location. We enjoyed free WIFI and the service was excellent. Too bad the onsite restaurant is not open on weekends. The decor was tired and the carpet clean but horribly stained which made it appear dirty. The unit next door had had some woodwork done evidenced by all the sawdust in front of its and our entrances, just made the place appear a bit scruffy as well as sawdust being brought into our unit by the breeze as well as on foot. The outdoor furniture directly outside our unit was filthy and came with a dirty ashtray. The blinds in the kitchen were caked in dirt, which surprised me as everything else inside the unit was so clean. The pool area was littered and a bit of vegetation in the pool itself. The housekeeper left a couple of wet and dirty cleaning cloths in the unit..yuck. Wasn't an overall bad experience, just a few niggly things that added up to bring me to the conclusion that it may not be worth the qualmark 4 star rating.

Thanks for your feedback Cynthia. We find that the weekends are a time when guests tend to go out for dinner which is why we don't open the restaurant although we do open on a Friday night if there is enough interest, and there are some local restaurants who deliver to the motel and charge the meal back to your room. We are sorry to hear your comments regarding litter. The neighbours had cut down a rather large walnut tree which bordered on our fenceline and that coupled with the wind had been the cause of the mess.

I rang to book and the lady who answered the phone was so accomodating - giving us several options with great rates .At check in i was met by such a lovely lady ( the owner I m presuming) who was so welcoming. The restaurant which had such yummy meals - it was so hard to choose as they all sounded nice! The waitress ( the same lady who checked us in) was once again so nice to us. She was so busy running reception, the phone, changing light bulbs and being our hostess and she managed it all still smiling! The cook was so nice as well - it was great to see her after the meal so we could thank her. Our room was so quiet - the ones at the back by the pool are the best. Bed was very comfy and room was very clean and tidy - had everything we needed. We will definitely be back to stay again - such lovely hosts and a lovely place to stay. Well done palm city:-)
